SD didn't read the news. Or is pocketing the ad money and looking the other way.
"At this point, there's zero chance I would buy a Eufy security camera for my own home. But if you already own some or if you're on the fence, you might want to hear what the company has to say for itself." https://www.theverge.com/2022/12/...era-answer
Outside of the privacy issue with Eufy, this is not homebase compatible so connection to mulitple camears will be sluggish. Get a homebase camera network which is faster and much simpler. If you only need one camera though, this might work.

You may not care, but many people invested in the Eufy ecosystem entirely because of their "no cloud" claims. What Anker did, that they're now trying to pass off as a misunderstanding on the consumer's part, was intentional. This is completely unacceptable for any product, but egregious abuse of trust for a security product. Remember, this isn't just a few affected outside facing doorbell cameras with a bug, people have these in their homes. Their marketing intended to deceive and garnered them sales they couldn't have made without the lies. What's harder to understand than the angry mob with pitchforks, at least to me, is corporate fanboys who will defend companies when they're caught being bad actors. This isn't your neighbor who screwed up but deep down you know is a good guy, it's a Chinese corporation that would bulldoze your house tomorrow if it stood in the way of profits.

Edited to add...
If the face ID claims have merit, I can't wait to see the contortions people will do to try and justify Anker's behaviour.

I was warning about eufys terrible security for years on SD and Reddit and getting downvoted by the eufy shill brigade both places. Oh how good it feels to be vindicated.

Except that's not news quoted, it's one person's opinion.
This cam works reasonably well for my use case, and it's a decent price.
While I think Eufy should be fully transparent about potential privacy issues with their implementation, consumers should have the option to make choices per their risk tolerance. I'm not thrilled about the loss of functionality apparently related to how some have reacted to this issue.

One person's opinion? It's all over the Internet, including security publications and forums.
Thanks for the laugh.

Strawman fallacy, nowhere did I imply that I "believe all the electronics you own respect your privacy". I do believe companies should be transparent with their data handling policies and held to account when they don't do as they say. Anker obscured what they were doing because "no cloud" is a feature many people want in a security camera. So much so, that they immediately changed their privacy policy when called out, because it didn't jive with their actual practices.

Yes, there is no shortage of opinions on the Internet. Opinions supported by facts and logic - a bit rarer.
