for $200 offer you don't have to setup direct deposit, but for $300 offer you have to setup direct deposit

Do you take a hard pull on your credit when opening a banking account with Chase or anyone else?

I've been looking into Wealthfront or CDU I think it's called to park some money and get good yield %.

Chase and I think all banks don't, but Credit Unions sometimes do a hard pull. If you Google the bank you will most likely find a discussion about it. Or you can freeze your reports Cool

Thats not true, you can open a full service brokerage in branch (not a managed account and not a self invest account) and inside that full service brokerage account you can trade yourself online and buy stocks/etfs without a fee or you contact the assigned investment advisor and have them buy you a CD or treasury. No mgmt fee.

you actually need DD for both offers. so since both offers are running simultaneously, take advantage of the $300 offer

Thanks.

I've had a CapitalOne checking for the longest time and for some dumb reason kept my money in checking. I should have left it in a savings account. Just opened the free 360 checking with them via the app. Hoping to.make some interest on the money but have enough to where I could make some bucks via this chase deal.

OK fair enough, but having used JPM Self Invest in the past, it's the worst platform I've used so far in between Fidelity, Merrill Edge, TD Ameritrade, Schwab and ETrade. Online ACATS process is awful as well with transfers from most other brokerages having to be manual since the Chase system somehow can't handle those other accounts. The only inbound ACATS that I've gotten to work is from TD Ameritrade and the only outbound that worked for me is going to Fidelity.

2k is a juicy bonus, but I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle if everything must be done with paper, phone calls or in-person meetings.

I mean what are you really doing? A full ACAT in kind from one brokerage firm to another to qualify for a bonus? Its not hard if you have a full service brokerage account, just send the statement .pdf over to the advisor on file. They process the transfer for you, they send you a DocuSign, you e-sign and in 5 days the positions are in the JPM brokerage account. Sure if you start piecing out various positions, quantities etc. and do a partial transfer then it can be more difficult but a full transfer in kind is not. At least not with a full service brokerage account. And if your doing this just for a bonus then who cares what the ongoing platform looks like if all your doing is moving in kind. Unless you plan to keep the account and use it to trade.

Yeah the trading part sucks. I'm not going to leave 250k in a brokerage and not trade anything ever during the qualification time of the promo. 250k is a partial transfer for me as my accounts are usually larger. Additionally I prefer partials to avoid the origin broker's ACATS fee which, while it'll be reimbursed by the destination firm, still requires a phone call, chat, email and submitting docs.

It takes me less time to open 2 accounts and do 2 partial ACATS at 1k bonus each than to open a single account in person, then have to deal with a crappy trading interface.

Forgot to mention I disabled dividend reinvestment on JPM and it still reinvests dividends weeks after I disabled it. It's just a buggy investment platform and I wouldn't touch it if it weren't for the bonuses. Even then it's still one of my last choices if I exhausted all my other bonus options.

I got my $600 bonus for checking + savings but part of the agreement was to keep account active for 6 months. It will be 6 months feb 5. Can I close the account or do I really have to wait 6 months?

I've done this plenty of times with buy and hold funds/ETFs that I had no intention of 'trading'. You can also peel off the positions you use to do these bonuses and put them in one single account (separate account #) and then bounce them from place to place via Full ACAT transfers. Way easier than doing partials all the time. I also personally used the full service JPM brokerage and it wasn't hard. I didn't have to do anything other then send an advisor my pdf statement and then he processed the ACAT and sent me a DocuSign. Sure its not as tech heavy as Fidelity or ETrade but the funds that were moved were not going to be sold anyway, it just was just 3 mutual funds and 1 ETF. Pretty easy offer tbh.
