I wish I could down vote you 4 times for being so presumptuous.

There are other preamps and unless you play guitar you would not know. Don't presume everyone has the same background in elictric guitar as you do

Looks like both and LBX II and LBX S are on sale for 549.

For those who are wondering:

The LBX I featured two distortion channels ("crunch" and "burn") with no clean channel. The "burn" channel is killer!

The LBX II featured one distortion channel that was a blend of the crunch and burn channels from the LBX I and a clean channel.

The LBX S features the "burn" channel from the LBX I and a clean channel. IMO, this is the best version of this amp made yet, and I say that as an owner of the original LBX I. Killer amp at this price!

I was wondering why a preamp would have any significant power at all — but this is for guitar (or other instrument ) players — so it's not for listening to recorded music.
The point of the preamp is to amplify the signal...lol

🤣 I wish I could downvote you twice. That was a ridiculous comment. Everyone but you knows this is for guitars to plug into an amp cabinet.

Only electric guitar. Also, you need a speaker cabinet to go together with them.

This is a good deal.

I have the 50 Watt combo version and plug it into the EVH 4x12 cab…best of both worlds…portability, 4x12 and I have the attenuator on the combo that this head doesn't have. Great amp though!!!

Damn… I just got a 5153 Stealth 50W for 1413.01 after tax from Musicians Friend. Should I return it? Thoughts on the 6L6 vs Stealth?

There are YouTube videos comparing the two heads. You just have to find one that isn't in drop C tuning with the gain at 100%. In my opinion, the stealth isn't worth $500+ more than this amp. I think Wolfgang uses the 6L6. Ed used the 100 watt version of this amp on the 07-08 tour and used the stealth on the 2015 tour. Not sure which he used in 2012. This 50 watt 6L6 was also used on the song "Tattoo."

The stealth has a silly amount of gain on tap...to the point where its kinda unessessary. I'd 100% take this at almost half the price

Alot less fizzy...significantly much more refined (and much better clean)

The old block letters where a buzzy mess stock, after some simple mod work they sound amazing though
