Yes. I've owned both versions of this TV. And the google tv is garbage, in my option. Slow and wonky.
As a counter point, I bought the Google version of this about a month ago and it's been amazing. The interface is smoother and faster than any of my 3 Chromecast w/GoogleTV 4k's. I don't have any issues at all.
I hate the Roku interface and much prefer the Google interface. Just my experience.
Not in my experience if you're watching OTA channels. 2 different Roku TVs have frozen on OTA and the only way to regain control of TV is a power cycle. 1 Hisense and another was the Onn.

Important thing to mention is, in 2020 the TCL 6 Series was a Roku Version, then in 2021 the 6 Series was Google, and now in 2022 (one topic is about) it is Roku again. So it isn't as simple as google or roku for their 6 series despite that most of their tvs come in both versions each year. For example from the 2020-2021 Versions the 2021 was capable of 4k/120hz but the 2020 was only capable of 1440p/120hz despite being 4k and 120hz.
As far as operating system goes, there were a lot of issues with Google TV on these but at one point last year TCL did a huge rework (even took their google tvs off the market temporarily) until they fixed this issue which has sense been taken care of.
Google is probably the most advanced with most apps/options
Roku is probably the simplest to use.
Not to say google or any smart system is "hard" but if one had to be the hardest and one the easiest it'd be these two. even though the gap is small.
