To be fair, this was Canon's discount price from their website (they are OOS), but the regular price from most retailers is $480-450.

Be warned that if you buy Canon brand toner, it will cost more than this printer. $400+. If you buy 3rd party toner, you run the risk of crappy print quality. I have one of these in my basement sitting unused because the toner I got from Amazon doesn't work well and I don't want to spend $400 on Canon brand toner. Such a rip off.

The Canon MF series is the worst, I regret buying. I'm going back to Brother once my toners are up.

Was I better off with the front page HP deal last month? We haven't set it up yet. Gave it to my wife for xmas to replace a 10 year old HP color laser.

This is the one we have (unopened so far):
HP LaserJet Pro M283cdw Wireless AIO Color Printer Costco $389.99

In all fairness they all suck. They all have there corcks. I have tried Hp, canon, xerox, brother, etc. As long as I can get two years out of a printer I am good. Lately the printer prives have jumped. This is not a good deal.

i bought this printer few years back for $1xx.xx . I use it very sparingly but it has served me for duplex scanning (though image come out bit skewed from feeder) well during pandemic. So far no issues with it. Now the black toner is running low. So will have to try finding compatible toner.

I'd generally stick with HP, but the scanner on this says it is two-sided, while the HP doesn't say that (so I'm assuming they don't since it's a great feature to list if you have it).

Depends on how much copying or scanning you plan to do.

Very happy with my B&W Canon double-sided printer that I bought for my classroom (the single-sided scanner is a bit of a bother though).

According to Amazon, I purchased this exact same printer in November of 2019 for $169.99. Have prices increased so much that this is a good deal?

I use the scanner (duplex) more than the printer, but I dread the thought of having to replace the toner someday.

Duplex scanner sounds friggin' awesome!!
So much hassle to return and buy new, plus I'm wondering if knockoff toner works as well on the Canon as it does on the HP.

My old HP color laser we got knockoff toner for $45-60 for a full set, and it typically worked well for us. My new HP may run me closer to $80 for a full set (and some hacking).
Is there not a similar option for Canon?

Is there a better color laser printer that has duplex scanning? That's a must feature for me but seems to be a rarity for color laser printers.

I have the 733 and have used 3rd party toner since it was new with no issues. Be sure to toss any cart that bleeds on the edge. Toner will get damp (or seals will degrade over the years) and do strange things when it sits for months/years of nonuse in a printer. Dry is the key and use it at least twice a week.

Most reliable unit I have ever had! 5+years!

Not sure what the differences are for the 644???? Single pass both sides scan is a must for me. It was cheaper to get a Cannon than a standalone duplex scanner. WiFi Cannon print app on my iPhone is awesome.

Stay away from units that require a membership for the unit to work.

As always, Brother makes good stuff.

The Canon 733 is a reliable combat tank with a large canon to fire.
