The fine print, page 15 of the weekly ad [menards.com], says that items can be up to twice the height of the bag. No stacking above the height of the bag. Items must be in original packaging and not disassembled. Doesn't work on gift cards, invoices, special orders, etc...
I hate how difficult they make the program. Come on, you really need us to manually fill out a form, stick it in an envelope, pay postage to be physically delivered and wait like 3 or 4 months for piece of paper with a barcode?

If you have a Home Depot near your Menards, they secretly match The 11% rebate when Menards has it. (Lots of restrictions and some stores don't participate.) Digital submission, but snail mailed plastic gift cards in a few weeks. https://www.homedepotrebates11percent.com/#/home
Don't get all the hate. Menards has more SKUs than any of the other chains in stock and still has regular sales that beat the prices of everyone else. They carry tools at every price level from premium to Harbor Freight quality.

I look forward to the bag sale every year to pick up clearance Christmas stuff as well as things that never go on sale like oscillating tool blades, electrical tools and wire just to name a few things.

Is it really only on stuff that physically fits in the bag? Suddenly in the market for a new garage door...
I was easier able to get it to work last time around.

Would the 15% off apply to items not sold by Menards (e.g. Ryobi brand products that fit in the bag)?
Thanks for any clarification,

It's a hit or miss on the 15% and what fits in the bag. I've had some large items and didn't put things in the bag before, it still automatically rang the discount. Then there are times where I'm told that I had to put everything in the silly bag (it rips of course). I feel like it's dependent on the cashier and management.

But whatever, this is a once a year discount and don't have to deal with the silly rebate.

Agreed and lets not forget the tax savings. They will charge tax on the 15% off price vs tax on the whole purchase first then the 11%rebate. So yea its is a great deal especially if you can get lowes or HD to also offer 15% off.

Yes, I've had the same experience. By default things are coded in their system to apply the discount or not, but the cashier can override it pretty easily if they're feeling nice.

Was hoping I could get a invoice paper from that department, put it in the bag, and then pay for it...Not sure that will work though.
Yeah, you're not going to pull any scamy shenanigans with a loophole. One local Menard's store even insisted on only giving me store credit for a return because of some made up policy they said I should be aware of but could not show me in writing or on their website anywhere, because it didn't seem to exist. HD and Lowe's will make one time exceptions for goodwill and to avoid arguments but in my experience Menard's would much prefer be rude, get angry with you and lose your business.

Because they know people will try to abuse their sale and pull some BS:
"All merchandise must remain in its original packaging w/ no modifying of the bag is allowed"

I suppose the 11% rebates could be electronic instead but as far as mail-in rebates go it is as simple as it gets and I've always got mine. I tried to get the 11% from Home Depot on a big purchase and they denied it and wouldn't even tell me why. Home depot says contact the rebate company, the rebate company says it's up to home depot. Menards isn't perfect, especially when it comes to inventory counts, but home depot has screwed me over several times so I try not to shop there unless its my last resort.

And whatever you do, don't buy anything from home depot with store credit that you might need to return, even if it's a few bucks worth and you're buying a $200 milwaukee tool. It can get flagged for fraud via "the retail equation" and then you're unable to return/exchange even if the tool is defective.

I also more nit picking but do they really have to blast their stupid store jingle in-store?! Definitely like a 90s business marketing idea.
They kind of seem a little "off" compared to competitors. I think of them like the local discount grocery chain that seems to do a lot of things differently than everybody else, or sort of backwards and antiquated. Nice stores, but a little weird, and the shady, and the "11% off Everything*****" rebate that isn't actually a rebate or any percent off anything, is all you need to know about those fine print-loving scammers. I know they've been sued by state attorneys general for misleading ads about the rebate but I don't know where those suites went.

sure things could be better, but menards usually has the best lumber prices. the Depot will give veterans a no sweat 10% discount every day up to 400 bucks a year as well as Lowes which may be more than 400??.

store credit is fine at menards, there is so much stuff there and the prices about the best anywhere. works as a win win for me.

I love Menards. In order of best prices, it's probably Menards then Lowes then Home Depot, most of the time. The thing most of us probably don't realize is that this 15% off thing is offered annually only after Menards has gone through the annual price increase storewide. The bag and the 11% rebate promotions soften the blow.

It seemed like they added a % off every year for a while and then it reverted back to 15%. How high did the discount get?
Not typically the bag sale, but rather the bucket sale had the highest discount %.

They would make you buy a plastic storage tote for $2.99 then in Jan 2003 they would give you 20.03 % off whatever you could fit in the bucket and you could keep doing it. 20.04% in 2004, etc..

The bag sale has been mostly 15% even though they skipped a year or two on that. They haven't done the bucket sale in over a decade IIRC.
