The fine print, page 15 of the weekly ad [menards.com], says that items can be up to twice the height of the bag. No stacking above the height of the bag. Items must be in original packaging and not disassembled. Doesn't work on gift cards, invoices, special orders, etc...
I hate how difficult they make the program. Come on, you really need us to manually fill out a form, stick it in an envelope, pay postage to be physically delivered and wait like 3 or 4 months for piece of paper with a barcode?

If you have a Home Depot near your Menards, they secretly match The 11% rebate when Menards has it. (Lots of restrictions and some stores don't participate.) Digital submission, but snail mailed plastic gift cards in a few weeks. https://www.homedepotrebates11percent.com/#/home
Don't get all the hate. Menards has more SKUs than any of the other chains in stock and still has regular sales that beat the prices of everyone else. They carry tools at every price level from premium to Harbor Freight quality.

I look forward to the bag sale every year to pick up clearance Christmas stuff as well as things that never go on sale like oscillating tool blades, electrical tools and wire just to name a few things.

Yeah, I don't get the Menards hate. They have the best variety and usually prices are better than Lowes and HD. I do wish they would go digital with the 11% rebate but they have never once missed anything I sent in (many times they were even way outside the rebate period) and it takes maybe 3-4 weeks not the "months" as others have exaggerated. Not sure why it being in the form of store credit is an issue, either. I'm there like twice a week lol.

They kind of seem a little "off" compared to competitors. I think of them like the local discount grocery chain that seems to do a lot of things differently than everybody else, or sort of backwards and antiquated. Nice stores, but a little weird, and the shady, and the "11% off Everything*****" rebate that isn't actually a rebate or any percent off anything, is all you need to know about those fine print-loving scammers. I know they've been sued by state attorneys general for misleading ads about the rebate but I don't know where those suites went.
They probably will be sued. Online they automatically showed the 11% price adjustment showing what it costs after rebate. To me I thought I was getting a cash rebate not store credit.
I forgot one last weird thing is the online pickup is in the far back opposite corner of the store.

It's weird because I feel like if they fixed some of that it stuff it wouldn't be bad. They do offer a wide selection of products.

All true, and even a dozen eggs and a gallon of milk. nod

I just wish they would open some stores west of the Rockies.

I'll never get over the "processing fee" that they charge for online shopping - $1.40 per item. This generally pushes the cost of items too high and I choose to shop elsewhere. I think their business logic is wrong - they charge a premium for convenience and when people don't pay it they assume there's no value in technology innovation or investment. But you'll never have to be worried about "Cookie Notifications" on their site - I'm sure their tech folks don't even know what a cookie is.

The bolded part, I don't think I've seen any Menards carry Makita, Milwaukee, Dewalt, Festool. Usually Masterforce, Skil, and Bosch in the stores I visit.

I think Menards totally serves a purpose, and I do shop there, but there are limitations on closer to premium quality products.

Is it really only on stuff that physically fits in the bag? Suddenly in the market for a new garage door...

That's the exact problem and why it is blatantly my misleading - they show a BS price that never actually applies, and use fine print to try to covers their butts. If something is prices at $100 and they say it is $89, after rebate or otherwise, that's a lie, because you don't get $11 off or back, you get store credit, which is absolutely not the same thing. And heaven forbid you want to return something bought with store credit. You could spend $100 more on stuff, but if you use even a dime of store credit, they'll say any item from that receipt that you try to return was purchased with store credit, and deny a refund. Fine print is not always an automatic out from having to abide by state truth in advertising laws, and it's insulting.

Their purpose for me is cheap wood and wood selection. They have at least 2-3 times the number of wood options and they almost always have the best prices. Home Depot is literally 2 minutes away from me and Menards is 15 min. Any large lumber purchase or specialized wood is bought from Menards.

I also find their lighting selection to be much better than both Lowes and HD.

Their return policy is posted...... Always had mixed purchases go back to me as real money unless the returned item was more than the amount of real money paid, just like the policy says.

Oh wow I didn't know that if you partial pay with store credit they do that. I also have been charged restocking fees on other returns as well. Overall I feel nickel and dimed by them

Decent way to save a few bucks on single gallons of paint, hand tools, small power tools, pet products, fasteners, saw blades, drill bits, 24" shop lights, paint/prep supplies, HVAC tape and elbows, register covers, humidifier filters, and so on. My local store has been fairly lax about the bag sale in the past—if it's preprogrammed, they don't care if it isn't in the bag or if you stick it in the bag as they ring up something else. No garage doors, lumber, or pick lists for those of you trying as those are specifically excluded by the system.

Menards used to do cash rebates years ago, but figured out that people were abusing their free after rebate items to resell. I knew someone who had thousands of dollars in free merchandise from this trick, so Menards nixed cash rebates in favor of store credit because it prevented them from losing money while allowing them to keep offering the free after rebate items.

Yeah their tools are like Harbor Frieght+. Basically only Bosch is worth a shit for power tools there. And even then... Some Hitachi or Stanley nailers. Everything else is Tool Shop/Skil/Performax/Black&Decker/"Masterforce" - crap.

It's not that difficult at all and if you do shop there quite a bit, you fill out the one form and then stick all your rebate receipts in with it and send it in. I normally get my rebates within a month. Now this is a pain for small purchases and if you don't shop there too often. The time and the stamp aren't worth it.

The reason that the 11% is so popular though is due to business / commercial buyers. For example, through your business you end up buying $100,000 in supplies and building materials etc, you end up getting $11,000 back in Menards store credit that you can now use for whatever you want and doesn't show up on any tax forms. So now you got new hardwood floors in the house and some new big tool boxes in the garage.

This pulls commercial sales away from some of the other big stores even if the prices are slightly cheaper.

Nice cut and paste, but for the incident I had, the store manager admitted that the policy he cited wasn't posted anywhere (it was not), and was not available online (he looked) at that time. So don't tell me otherwise, thanks. I've had good experiences at Menard's but that doesn't mean the bad ones are excusable or didn't happen. I prefer shopping at Home Depot and there are like 4 of them closer than the nearest Menard's, but sometimes I go to Menard's based on price, and they have the best selection and prices on stuff like stone, pavers, gravel, etc.. Also nice that they let you drive right up that stuff.

I bought a Masterforce 80V snow blower there last year, only because we had a major storm coming, everywhere and everything else was about sold out, and my old one needed repairs. It was weak and flimsy and I ended up returning it, but apparently it was a rebranded Greenworks, and the bundled leaf blower seemed decent. Not something I wanted but fans of Greenworks or those already into their battery system may have liked it.

I got some Gearwrench wrenches there on clearance that are okay. But yeah, a lot of what they offer is definitely HF-grade but at worse prices.
