Not sure if you're against shopping online since you mention that you won't buy from Helly Hansen because they closed their location… but The North Face currently has many coats and jackets without hoods, and several with entirely detachable hoods.

Even if North Face didn't have any more jackets with detachable hoods, your frustration with this little issue does not mean a multi-billion dollar global company is ruining its business! It's doing just fine

I know I'll regret asking this, but why is a detachable hood a deal breaker? Never heard someone with such a strong detachable hood opinion lol
