I bought this model as a refurb five years ago with same exact processor. I have 16 GB RAM, and use almost half of it just with 10 chrome browser tabs open. I could not imagine buying this with only 8 GB, although I know for a fact that the ram is not soldered to my motherboard, so replaceable.

These models require a usb C docking station. Either a Dell model or third party.

Chrome is a horrid memory pig. It was my favorite browser for a long time, but slowly moving away.

Not with this cpu you didn't. The processor was released Q3 2017. So just a hair over 5 years ago. It would have only been available brand new 5 years ago--maybe. Dell is usually a model behind for 6 months and you sure as heck didn't pay anywhere near this price.

I did a search on the Dell website and didn't find this. Do you have a link to the item?

Thanks

Which browser do you suggest since Chrome is a horrid memory pig?

got this a while back with 32GB ram and upgraded the ssd to NVMe. It works great for my 11 yr old. Not sure if I got lucky or the Dell specs are off because I think it said the max supported RAM was 16GB. I put in 2 - 16GB DIMMS and windows 10 sees all 32GB. The m.2 2280 drive supports both NGFF-SATA and NVMe (I don't remember but, I might have had to change a setting in the BIOS for it to work but, I don't think so) However, it only seems to use two PCIe lanes instead of 4 so I get about half the speed on my ssd when i do benchmarks. (Still about 3x faster than the 500Mb/s on SATA) So to me it was worth the NVMe upgrade but, no need to buy the super fast NVMe drives... (I just used a WD Blue drive since it was on sale at the time)

I got this and a couple 7480s from them in the last few years. 2 came with bulging batteries when I opened them to upgrade the SSD. I contacted them right after getting my order and both times they sent me a replacement battery with little to no issues. (I may have had to send them a picture or something but, they sent the battery right away and I didn't have to worry about sending back the bad battery. ) So while I had issues, I was happy with the service and would buy from them again.... just waiting for laptops with more current processors now that windows 11 is out and won't work with older processors.

Well..Edge is built on Chromium. Opera is decent. I still use Chrome--mostly but I have between 32 and 64 gb of ram in all my machines for other programs. It shouldn't be necessary for a web browser. I have 5 tabs open right now, but in task manager it shows 32. It's sloppy coding and unfortunately prevalent with software today. Memory leaks are horrible.
