I had this center speaker with the B6 bookshelf speakers. No matter how much I tweaked the settings in Audyssey in my Denon receiver, it sounded like a blanket was covering the tweeter. Dialogue during TV and movies was so muffled and hard to hear. I would turn up the volume to hear quiet dialogue scenes and have to jump on the remote to turn it down when loud noises occurred during scenes.

Switched everything to Polk Signature series speakers and wow, what an immediate improvement in clarity and easily audible dialogue. Do not recommend this center for movies/TV. Elac Debut series were great for music though, no complaints there.

I have this center speaker and it sounds great. It's even their B stock (refurb)… but I was coming from some real trash speakers. Seems good and plenty loud with good imaging to me though.

Edit: oh looks like my center is C6.2 debut 2.0, maybe there is a big difference. Also had paired with f6.2 floor speakers.

it's weird that you'd say that since polk signature series has a big frequency dip in the vocal range.

i'm not calling you a liar. must be some interplay between your receiver and the speakers.

I had the Polk Signature S30 center and S15 bookshelves for a while and then ended up with this ELAC center and matching bookshelves as well. The center was a very clear downgrade in sound quality. It sounds like it's trapped in a cardboard box if that makes any sense. It's just hollow and unclear. It's definitely overpriced compared to other options in the price range.

I'm now on the JBL Studio line (530, 520C). The bookshelves are much better than the Polk S15 or ELACs, but the center is still just okay. That's just the nature of MtM center speakers.

I own all of these, plus the F6.2, a few 3010's, ow 4's etc.

I love them and think they work pretty great in a 5.2.2 setup a 5.1 setup or a 7.1 setup. I've had all 3 at different times. Powered by Denon 3400H/760H.

My thoughts:
1) These prices are often available. Elac website sometimes throws in free cables and/or stands.
2) These speakers like power and really sound better and fuller between 60-80db. Most of the lineup is 6 ohm. I didnt realize until this moment that the 2 center options - c6.2 and c5.2 - are 8 ohms.
3) Denon has an audyssey setting called "dynamic volume". This makes huge difference when watching 5.1 or 7.1 media. (Light setting works for me.)
4) Denon also has settings that can bump up dialogue at low volume.

I wonder if ppl saying they cant get response out of these maybe aren't setting them up properly. For me they are great. Really great!

(Of course if you like really "bright" sound, you prob wont like elac at all. They aren't known for that - whereas some other brands like Klipsch are.)

Anyway, that's my real world feedback. These speakers are boxy, they aren't sexy and while often of sale, they never really get "slick" pricing.

But they sound great to me. Smilie

The bs41 aren't as good as the debut series. Basically just a money grab that they pushed out. Andrew Jones didn't even have a hand designing them.

I have your center speaker and I definitely agree with the other poster. The center is the weak link in this series and it makes dialog hard to hear. There are ways to accommodate for it like setting the crossover frequency higher and adjusting center volume up. Still, I would have gone a different direction had I heard it before buying.

Dynamic volume is a crutch that should only be used when you don't want to wake up your sleeping spouse with loud booms. If you're using dynamic volume you are most definitely not consuming the sounds track the way it was mastered. I agree it helps with dialog but the issue here is that this center speaker does not output clear dialog to begin with (I have it).

I just hunted for any text to confirm this but no luck. Probably heard it in a Jones interview or speaker review somewhere. I'm usually pretty good dismissing hearsay but there's also that chance.

100% agree with you. I like the JBL Studio 530s the most out of those options! You can also consider the Emotiva C1+ as an upgrade over the 520C down the road.

i follow jone's interview on youtube, i recall hearing something about him not being involved in some of elac's high budget models, but never heard anything about not being involved in the 4 inch, he's definitely mentioned them in an interview.
