Also if I don't have batteries yet, is it worth keeping the battery?
You are receiving a $79 discount for the bundle (the retail cost of the battery). Instead of the $79 (~35%) being applied to just the battery, a ~35% discount is applied to both items. This drops them to $97.37 and 51.63. You can return the battery to receive $51.63 back.
Battery is pricey but not horrible. You can do better if you can wait (i.e. perform battery return "hack" in which you return/cancel "free" battery, then purchase another better deal on a better battery later on) . I like at least a couple of compact/cylinder batteries, this one is 2.5ah which is better than the standard 1.5 and 2.0 but less than the largest compact/cylinder battery which is 3.0 I believe. This 2.5 is "high output" which might be required for some tools to perform correctly? Not sure about that part. If you don't care about the form-factor, there are often deals which include the 4.0 or 6.0 batteries (this increases the size of the pack beyond this one)
This thing seems to be a beast compared to the standard fuel impact, while maintaining almost identical form-factor and adding a minor amount of weight.

Exciting. Apparently this has been out for a while-- I'd love to hear people's opinions on it.
I have a kobalt xtr if I need the extra torque, but since getting this the xtr is just collecting dust. This has more than enough beans to accomplish most tasks. An added surprise is how little vibration there is. It's a very comfortable driver to use for long periods of time. It does have a little bit of a wind up to get to peak torque but I find that makes starting screws easier. I can't personally compare it to the m12 fuel, but from what I was reading the fuel has objectively better metrics as it's lighter and more powerful but that comes at the cost of being louder with more vibrations. For me personally, I'm not using a 12 volt driver for the power, im using it because it's more comfortable.
I wouldn't switch from the fuel to this expecting a better performing impact, but if you're new to m12 I would recommend this tool over the fuel.
To do this hack, you have to actually buy it first and then return it?
