I had a similar experience years ago. I sent a 707 in multiple times and for some reason getting a decently symmetric grind on the edge was impossible, and the action was still out of tolerance as well. I returned it.
Their prices are going up, material quality is stagnant or going down (they want $300 for a plastic handled OTF and over $500 for the same D2 infidel from a decade ago), and quality control is heavily lacking. They're profiting off of their name at this point, and I refuse to buy their knives until they get back to basics.
FROM $125? Kind of a joke. Very inconsistent compared to the old days. Got a nicer model and the action was gummed up bad upon delivery. Sent it in under warranty repair, and thought, oh I'll get it laser engraved while I am sending it in. Paid for that, they sent it back not repaired, no engraving. I sent it in again, they sent back somewhat repaired, and still no engraving even after I pointed it out.

ok, I respect an experienced opinion. But if you don't recommend a benchmade, who gets your vote for EDC now? Keep in mind I would like a "super steel" like cruwear.
Training for what, exactly? Stabbing people? Shanking other inmates in prison? EDC circumstances call for a utility knife, not something that looks like an upgraded weapon used in wartime close-quarters combat.

They're primarily purchased by wackos who fantasize about saving innocent bystanders from other wackos by using a knife to take out 10 ninjas like in a bad movie. The same people who buy nunchuks and katanas and swing them around a few times to convince themselves that they know what they're doing.

These knives were specifically designed for use WHILE HOLDING A GUN, specifically for police in close quarters domestic situations to AVOID UNNECESSARY POLICE SHOOTINGS.
Just wanted to add that I bought a mini-bugout and returned it (they received it on March 2nd via UPS). They have yet to issue a refund. They see that they received it but are still searching for the box. "I see that your return still has not been logged in our system. Rest assured I am passing this forward to management so that we can locate the package."

That's why you need multiple $100 knives. Rotate them them to distribute the wear. Problem solved! 😬
