Nice to see roland finally making something more "budget friendly". I would venture to say this would be better quality than the alesis nitro and Simmons sets that are in the same price point. Yes, the others can be cheaper when they go on sale but imo it might be worth spending the extra.

Would something like this be good if I want to learn and not be too noisy for my housemates?

Watch this video. Around 1:20 would answer your question. They are still somewhat loud but nowhere as loud as the actual kit.

6"-8" drum heads....I have the Alesis and that's the biggest thing I hate about them. I'm learning how to play so my aim isn't all there yet and I'm constantly hitting the sides of the drum pads. It's really discouraging. If you can afford it I would pay a little more and get something with larger drum heads, especially if you're starting out.

So the double kick pedal costs more than the entire set? Are there other options?

You can get a Tama Speed Cobra for $200-250, which is an awesome double pedal for just about anybody. If you're just starting though and don't want to put money into a pedal yet, then dont even worry about a double at all. Buy a cheap one on amazon or pick one up used to learn on.

It'll just make you target the drum heads better

Not the best kit for experienced drummers (this drum machine is especially bad) but a really good price for anyone on a budget

Is this a Slickdeals exclusive deal? I don't see it on the website when I search separately.

I have Roland v-tour set from around 15 years ago. Still love it and no issues. Even though I don't play as much, I'm having trouble parting with it.

Ditto. I've got a Alesis Nitro Mesh and the small snare and limited dynamics of that and the hi-hats are problematic for me to control pressure. (TBF, you need to spend $1200 on the new Roland ones to get close to real behavior.) What frustrates me is that if you want bigger pads, you have to go way upscale into models that have super deluxe brains with tons of sounds. I don't want ANY included sounds because I'm just looking for MIDI performance capture to then trigger Superior Drummer samples. The problem with the meager velocity sensitivity of the pads is that it limits realism of the samples because unless you tediously manually edit levels, it's gonna sound like a drum machine.

I bought a TD-9SX in 2008 and used it for 10 years. Never needed to replace a drum head. Kit was built like a tank.
