First of all, no generics are not the same. You can't compare Kirkland Brand (Costco $214Billion company) to the Brand you've linked… the brand you linked is distributed by Pioneer Life Sciences which is a privately held company vs Reckitt a Publicly traded company. Pioneer Life sciences was established fairly recently in 2015 and imports its medication from China vs Reckitt established 1999 and a $42Billion company makes Mucinex in England… where there are completely different standards… England and Germany being the highest standards

For a few bucks more I'll go with the name brand buddy

Good job digging through to the sources (the actual lab that makes these). This Mucinex time-release product is "good to go" (see reference below).

I, for one, don't really consider Kirkland as a "brand name" (especially when Costco (baits) switches out inventory from say Foster Farms, to Kirkland, then raises back the prices, so would like to see where Kirkland sources from (all over the place, and probably switches vendors often). For drugs, it turns out its not too hard to trace.

I also found that FDA seeks separate approval for time-released versions of the OTC drugs, which Mucinex is mentioned here as approved:

https://www.federalregister.gov/d...tion-dates

It makes sense to regulate time-release versions- depending how good the "two layer" or micro-sponges are implemented so as to not vary its release due to variables like stomach acid / enzymes- even foods when broken during digestion- so as to prevent the 1200mg pill from releasing faster than 400mg-per-4-hours. If you can't find evidence of FDA approval, skip the convenience and stay with the non-release, standard dosage pills.

I prefer just the single-drug-per-pill, so Guaifenesin- with lots of fluids- helps to loosen / cough out the lung stuff- if I need an antihistamine, a separate generic Claritin. Guaifenesin is not on my list of ones with serious side-effects, but when other OTC time-release meds fail and dump too much in a short time, the "mild" OTC can now stress kidney/liver function and trigger side effects you won't normally feel at normal dosage.

BTW, Kirkland's regular-dosage version is made by LNK International, Inc. Didn't find any issues with their Guaifenesin, but did see FDA violations that reflect poor quality controls / monitoring that would be more systemic that just issues with their "Diphenhydramine 50 mg Berry Syrup" in September 2019.

Edit: Just to add this point: LNK International's production/headquarters is US (Long Island, NY). They failed on a batch and have to answer to the FDA for it. FDA can't apply that level of transparency / assurance in process quality controls for alot of foreign-made meds that slip in here. So just because "I didn't hear anything bad", really means some production facilities are unaccounted mystery machines pumping pills.

Generics are the exact same medication so no idea why everyone feels safe with name brand. Heck just look at Costco making a killing on its Generic products that are made by name brand. This is way cheaper (divide tablets by 3 to get to 1200mg please) without the Name and the same medication. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086S3P...e04ab807b8

Though not all generics are the same, there are still some decent US-based options that are significantly cheaper

Spirit 360 Fast Acting Mucus and Phlegm Relief Caplets, 15ct https://www.walmart.com/ip/213682692

This works out to $0.18/dose as opposed to Mucinex $0.96/dose (5x price difference)

Whether the "bilayer coating" in this Mucinex makes much of a difference may make it better than the other, but who knows 🤷🏽 ♂️

What'd you do two seconds of googling? Stop spreading misinformation and if you're going to try and prove some sorta point atleast do your research before you make statements.
Again an Asian manufacturer:
http://spiritpharma.com/capabilit...facturing/

http://spiritpharma.com/about-us/...e-founder/

Just because the company packages in the US doesn't mean their drugs are manufactured here.

If you want to take generics made from Asia then by all means what are you doing on a Mucinex post? But for god sakes don't waste my time and mislead others

The Kirkland brand Guaifenesin is made by LNK International in NY. Agreed much better than some Amazon generic.

In this case, the 35% discount applies to only S&S.

Add to the most-often additional 15% discount after subscribing to the 5th item, it's a decent deal.

If set for 6 months, some folks need meds for allergies/colds/flu starting early Winter then we might get a late Spring pollenation.

But I'm going with ... Amazon _does say, for S&S, "cancel anytime".
