If you are really motivated, the CPU can be replaced with a Ryzen 7.

I got a pair for my kids for Christmas. I do recommend upgrading ram. I tried adding a gb SSD, but the power supply had no available power for a 2.5" SSD. I ended up replacing the m.2 drive and cloning it with Macrium Reflect and an m.2 to USB adapter. No issues at all.

I've been looking to upgrade my computer. New R5 5600G is $130. New RX 5500 4GB also $130. At $365 this is almost worth it to grab the parts. Although....4GB on the graphics card is not really enough to make it worthwhile.

Have bought 2 refurb HP computers in the past. Not a fan, they were hinky and didn't like to run Linux AT ALL.

This is not true. I got this exact model a few months ago from the same refurbish supplier and put in a 3060 and it works without any issue.
