I own both dewalts this one and the portable 20v with the hose. The model with the hose works better than I would have imagined. The hose is short but works well to clean off saws in the work shop. Even used it to get access water out of the toilet fill tank to change the fill valve it is very handy. This model due to the shape is good for the workbench but does not get into the nooks and cranny's for saw clean up, it works great on stairs for a quick clean and basically flat surfaces. The plastic edge can scratch more easily your car trim for instance vacuuming around your floor mats. It is good and has its uses . I was surprised as at first I wanted this model but ended up preferring the 20v model with the hose. Good price and worth it just my 2 cents

Good at the discounted price. Overpriced at the original MSRP or retail. Yes, it is convenient because it is so small, but that is also its downfall. The small filter clogs up quickly. Reminds me of a slightly more powerful black and decker Dust Buster. I never used it for liquids. I used it when cutting in old work boxes/low voltage rings in drywall. Unfortunately, it just didn't have the suction to get all the drywall dust out of the carpet if my dropcloth slipped and the filter needed the drywall dust knocked out of it or rinsed after only a few boxes. I ended up going with the milwaukee 2 gallon cordless since I also had those batteries in my worktruck. Sooo much more power and capacity, but bigger. So if you are already in the Dewalt system and need something for small clean ups, might be good at the discounted price. Otherwise, look for something better.

Got the last one at my local store! Just barely got the new dcv501 for almost twice the price, and I'm happy with it, but couldn't pass this up at this price!

This isn't good as a wet vacuum as the 1/2 gallon capacity gets filled in about 3 seconds.

I was buying gearwrench stuff tonight (in person) - the gearwrench stuff was on the same clearance rack and I got an additional 25% off the price that rang up! I would assume this works for anything on the rack.

It's good for small messes and spills. Not a lot of suction, but the convenience makes it useful.

I have one of these and love it to quickly clean up small messes when i'm fixing stuff arounds the house. I'm currently on my second one because I once slapped a 60 flex volt battery on it I'm very sure it fried it. I haven't done it to the second one and it's still going strong after two years and I haven't changed the filter. I smack it clean every few months and keeps working fine.

How is this compared to DCV501?
