No, it will not. You need a PCIE gen 4 drive. Cheapest one of those that meets spec at 1 TB (that I know of) and comes with a heat sink is Silicon Power 1TB XS70 - $90 at Amazon.
Seems like a decent deal for lower end 1TB. I've had my eye on this Kingston one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BBWH1R8H which is only a few dollars more however specs-wise has better performance.

That's a gen 4x4 chip though where the op one is a gen 3x4. Obviously if your motherboard supports 4x4 I would definitely spend the extra few dollars and get the 4x4. But if your motherboard is gen 3, then it's kind of a waste to get the 4x4.

Not if one plans to upgrade to a 4 gen motherboard in the future for a couple extra dollars. It has a decent TBW warranty so I would plan for 4-5 years out

The above Kingston works just fine. As others have already mentioned, the PS5 just need a pcie4 which the Kingston is. PS5 doesn't care about speed.

Depends. As main drive or external storage? Only for external storage.

I'm trying to find a good price on 1 that has a 5 year warranty. It doesnt need to be super fast; just a good value. Any suggestions?

You are correct, for now. If you do upgrade to a slower Gen4 drive, PS5 games in the future that might take further advantage of the built-in SSD controller might not work correctly. At the moment, games on the market don't seem to fully utilize the PS5's hardware to the max. If games come along that require the full 5500MB/s speeds, your Kingston SSD might not function correctly. I didn't want to take that chance when making a recommendation to a fellow gamer.
