Available Colors:About this Product:
  • An exquisite high-end Telecaster experience awaits the player who gets his hands on a Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH. First, it looks phenomenal, with a carved flame maple top on a mahogany body, cream body binding, a gorgeous finish with a matching headstock, a mahogany set neck, abalone dot fingerboard inlays and black hardware.
  • Second, it sounds phenomenal, with dual Seymour Duncan humbucking pickups, three-way pickup switching, a push/pull coil tap switch built into the master tone control knob, and more. A decidedly no... on-traditional Telecaster of peerlessly crafted style and powerful sonic substance.

The Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH is kind of Fender's version of a Les Paul standard, mahogany body with real carved maple cap (not veneer), mahogany neck, two humbuckers (both Seymour Duncans that sell for $220 by themselves, with coil splitting), set neck... along with some telecaster stuff (through the body six saddle bridge, telecaster single cut body shape, although it has carves instead of the typical flat slab tele design), etc. I have been researching these for a while, and they are pretty much universally well reviewed, and for several years they were almost never in stock when selling at the $999 MSRP.

ProAudioStar has them for $599 shipped, marked as used, but I believe this is just to get around the Minimum Advertised Price rules. For other guitars marked used from PAS, I received a new guitar that still had the shipping label over the seal from being shipped from Fender to PAS. I waited until I received my order for this FMT HH before posting the deal here to see if I got a new one, and it was the same as the others, still sealed from Fender shipping to PAS. That said, there is no guaranty that no one will get a previously opened guitar, but if so and something is wrong with it, either return it, exchange it, or have Fender fix it.

The guitar I received (Amber) is perfect, setup with a kind of high action, but perfect finish, after a quick setup and tuning it plays great. I am doing a full setup now to lower the action, oil up the fingerboard and all of that, but figured I would post because the guitar is good and the serial checked out good on Fender's serial checking site and had 10/22 born date for warranty.

The crimson version: https://www.proaudiostar.com/fend...-used.html

The cherry burst isn't on sale, too bad as that is what I wanted, but that seems to be the most popular one and doesn't need any help to sell.

Hmm. Crafted in Indonesia. Wonder how the quality is compared to the made in mexico ones.
It's funny, I have a squier bullet strat that's made in china that has excellent fret work.
Then I have a made in mexico strat and tele that's are also excellent.
Then the american made acoustasonic tele... fret work isn't so great.
If I ever see another american strat in texas tea...
I don't think it matters much any more, and excellent ones can come from anywhere and poor ones can come from anywhere.
I'll just add again.
When it says "used" be prepared to actually get a used one. I did on the american acoustasonic telecaster deal.
I've been playing guitar for 25 years and I have never bought a new guitar. Used is just as good in my book

Yep, you can't complain about getting what was stated. I bought a used telecaster from proaudiostar and it was brand new. Still in all the plastic with everything on it. But like you said, I was expecting a used guitar (or customer return, etc.) so it was a bonus. I haven't looked at their return policy, but I thought I researched it when I bought mine and it was pretty good... Good enough that I took a chance anyway.

My Classic Vibe Butterscotch Squier Tele is made in Indonesia, and it's one of my nicest guitars, FWIW.

Good demo:

Yep, buying a guitar online is a crapshoot. Buying new in store is a crapshoot unless they sell you the actual one you try. I no longer buy guitars over the internet as the country of manufacture or name on the headstock doesn't mean much beyond resell value

The only thing that bothers me about "used" in this case is this statement on the page:

"Manufacturer's Warranty Does Not Apply"

And that you can't see pictures of the specific unit. My used acoustasonic had a slightly messed up knob, and a very tiny ding on the back. Just took some light sanding to the knob (they're wood on that one) and I'm quite happy having saved $700-1000.
But it'd be nice to see pictures of actual unit to know if there are any worse issues before dealing with the hassle of shipping for a return.

I have seen this guitar used with case locally for the same price and at least you can see in person the condition. The ones I have observed for sale seem they do not hold their value very well.

Amazon has the new Crimson for $807 and Cherry Burst for $899. I'm not confident in the used aspect of this.

Can't speak for the seller/used aspect; but I have this guitar and love it!

I just bought the amber. This guitar has been on my radar for a while. I mainly bought it so my daughter has something to use/learn on other than my expensive pieces or my trem axes.

At least that's what I'm telling my wife.
