I believe these are marketing strategies. They may have a certain target price, which they'll miss if they make it 5.5 lb.
Alternatively, sometimes companies make the weight different to prevent easy and direct mental comparison with the compettiton in their consumers' minds. This is a NeuroMarketing technique commonly practiced by Costco. Next time you go to Costco, find a kirkland product and its close alternative and look at their price signs; one will give price per lb and the other in oz! They do this so you can't simply compare prices and have to do some math , which is paychologically painful and aversive for most people, so they give up and pick whatever product they're cued to pick. Fascinating stuff!

They still have the Dymatize and it's currently on sale, but it's gotten so expensive that it doesn't make sense for most to get it, unless they have sepcial needs:

Thank you for pointing this out. Wow, even on sale that is a fairly high price and it's only 3.5 pounds. Might have to settle for the native whey and hope there isn't too much concentrate in it at this rate.

If you need pure Isolate, go with Now. I like it a lot, and Now pricing is always quite fair:

Alternatively, try taking some lactase enzyme with your protein.

I've tried a LOT of protein powders over the years and this is my favorite, highly recommend. Not too sweet, more natural ingredients, good mixing and flavor... And now I'm just pissed I don't have a Costco membership lol

There is no Sucralose in Ascent.
There is no sweetener of any kind in Now, as it is unflavored.

Wow! 110 lb. Sounds like you get all your protein from whey, and no other foods. How is that working for you?
Now WPC comes out at $8.7 per lb. If you put it on S&S:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0...0DER&psc=1
It works well for me. Basically, it makes my life easier.

I've been consuming whey since 2016, with the last 2 years being about 125g protein from whey daily (it's also how I make sure I get fiber and vegetables as I add 150g spinach and 135g fiber cereal to the two shaker bottles a day). I aim for 1g/protein per pound of bodyweight. This way I don't have to worry about protein content in my meals as I'll get around 20g protein with each of my other 2 solid meals a day.

Strength and lean body mass also improve/maintain with this protein consumption... i've gone months of just eating how I would intuitively eat w/out whey shakes and my numbers go down, unfavorably.

Eggs are awesome, but this is better! Also, good luck finding eggs in the store.

My apologies. I was referring to Now Protein regarding the sucralose, but I see I was mistaken.

I just got the 5.64lbs Optimum for $50 each. Someone said that this is cleaner? So this is a better deal then? Should I return the Optimum and get this one instead?

Also, wondering if this is cheaper in store?

Trying to get back into weight-lifting. Not sure about the expiration date and how many bags to buy and not end up wasting. Anyone got any idea? Thanks.

That will entirely depend on how much you're lifting and what your goals are. If you're just drinking a protein shake after a workout, then a bag will last you a couple months. If you're doing multiple shakes and such, then bags will go quicker. Also if you're looking to build muscle you'll need more protein than if you are just trying to lean up and become more toned.

I generally drink 3 shakes a day (1 in the morning, 1 after working out, and 1 before bed).

Wow, those cholesterol numbers are super low for protein powder. Might have to give this a try.
