I've thought about QuickJack many times before, and I always pass. For one thing, there are single-post and two-post lifts which cost only a little more, and are INFINITY TIMES better, if you have a garage that can support something like that.

Second, Is that much less work than lifting one side of the car, putting it on jack stands, then lifting the other side and putting it on jack stands? Because when I look at the QuickJack, there's a lot of messing around with dragging it out, positioning it, attaching hoses, plugging it in... I can see corner cases, like if I take my car to a race track, maybe. But for working in a home garage, floor jack and stands seem just as good.

According to the manual, you are not supposed to work underneath a vehicle unless you also have jack stands under there as well. But the space to fit quickjacks and jack stands is pretty limited, which would make it nearly impossible to get much of anything done under there anyways. It seems that quickjacks are best for working on wheels, brakes, suspension, etc. that doesn't involve having to get underneath the vehicle.

WARNING You must ALWAYS use auxiliary safety stands under the Vehicle while elevated on both QuickJack Frames.

What would you do underneath one of them?

I have the QJ 7000 slx, along with the frame extensions. Have used it to do fluid changes, full brake jobs, exhaust replacement, and other jobs on a lexus gs350 and rav4... for the most part I like it especially since the gs350 is lowered and I would have to drive up on ramps to get a jack underneath. The one thing to consider is the weight of the items (I think each of the lift weighs close to 100 lbs). Sometimes it's a pain to pull down the jacks off the hangers and position them (no swivel wheels on mine, so I end up scratching up the epoxy coating on my garage floor) for the car to be lifted. If I had the space I would have opted for a 2/4 post lift but I don't have garage height clearance.

That's more likely lawyer talk. Plenty of folks like myself and car enthusiasts on YouTube have no worries about getting underneath a car being only supported by QuickJacks.

See page 7 and page 41 of the same manual you linked for a more nuanced verbiage, emphasis mine:

If a more visual demonstration is needed to assuage concerns, QuickJack made a video a few years back cutting off the hydraulic cylinder under load with no catastrophic failure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvcVT-OxqvE

If none of that convinces someone, they can always use jack stands on the front and rear subframes with QuickJacks, and shouldn't get in the way too much of getting underneath the vehicle.

Oh, except that chances are the jack stands aren't going to be at the same height as the QuickJack locking heights, so good luck with that. And also, jack stands can fail as well and are less-engineered than these QuickJack frames, so concerned folks might be better off taking their car to a shop with proper 2/4-post lifts.
Well, by all means, I'm going to take your and these unnamed youtuber's words over those of the company itself in regards to using jack stands with Quickjacks.

I've used both jack stands and QuickJacks, but now I pretty much only use my QuickJacks. Here's my reasons:

As you caveated in your reply, not all folks have a garage that can support something like that, whether it's floor space or height.

Not to mention installing those lifts require fixing them in-place to the floor, which means there's much less flexibility to rearrange my garage area or my parking situation; QuickJacks allow me to park wherever I want in my garage without worrying about hitting a conventional lift's metal posts.

I'll be honest, it's not always much less work than jack stands. The positioning is what takes the most time; the hoses, plugging everything in, etc. is less than 2 minutes without even rushing, but QuickJacks are still my go-to because:
    • They are much better engineered with more material than conventional jack stands, I worry a lot less about the safety of these compared to jack stands.
    • At 20"+ of maximum lift height, they lift higher than most jack stands.
    • They are much more capable of handling cars with a low clearances. With a conventional floor jack, you might be needing to do each corner at a time, good luck getting 20" of lift when you're going corner by corner.
    • I can lift all four corners of the vehicle at once; much easier than lifting each corner at a time with a lift and jack stands This makes tire rotations and fluid maintenance easy since the car is level so filling up the fluid to the correct levels is a breeze.

Whish it was rated for 8,000lb so it could safely lift the Rivian. Damn batteries are heavy!

I offered a suggestion for using both jack stands and QuickJacks while still allowing someone to get under their vehicle, but you do you.

From the previous threads, I realized I needed the longer TLX version that Costco doesn't carry. Make sure you measure or verify which length you need also, it's not just weight based.

For a little more you can get a set of aluminum jacks from Jegs. You see these all over the pits when cars are prepping for the track.

These jacks are great for people who work on cars a lot but they are heavy so if you aren't strong don't mount them high on the wall. They also don't roll very easily Atleast the set that I have. The quick connect hoses are great and operation is super smooth and sturdy but beware of the weight moving these things around your garage.

I've use a set of the smaller ones for years. Once flat, you can just leave them on the garage floor. My 300 clears them without issue. Carefully test the 1st time of course. I use them for the usual maintenance and also for detailing = really saves the back

You can get frame extensions for this model and overall come out less. HD has quickjack accessories on sale right now.

It's not for going underneath it. It's to lift it up so more people can see they own a Rivian.

Nice option but not "a little more". This is the Aluminum Frame Only - Pump Not Included.

I know y'all seem to like to hate on the Rivian person, but clearly none of you rotate your own tires. Having all 4 off the ground makes the job about 10 times faster. Electric vehicles are heavier, and rotating tires needs to be done more frequently.
