I used Turbo Tax exclusively up until about 20 years ago when Intuit created a fiasco by not allowing you to reinstall older versions of their software (i.e. in cases where you wanted to do an amended return, or just to read your old files). I switched to HR Block and never looked back. They both are about the same in terms of ease of use. HR Block is almost always cheaper.

I have never run into any issue in the last 20 years with HR Block, on multiple machines per year, doing several different returns each year (for family, etc.) with getting it installed, updated, filing, or reinstalling. The process to download is straight forward if you follow the instructions.

Update - from reading the reviews, seems that redeeming the code for download might be a buggy process.

Have used H&R Block Premium & Business for years (usually overkill, but occasionally a need for the Business one) for family and occasional friends. Easy to use. I doubt it's any better or worse than anything else in this genre. Have never had an issue with a download, have purchased from here and Amazon.

I placed the order for Deluxe and State. Even though it says download, only option is to Ship which costs 9+ dollars extra for me, or pickup at store which is free. I ordered anyway, thinking the order would generate an email to download, but order was fulfilled to store for pickup. Just an FYI for those wanting an instant download. I ended up paying 12 dollars more and ordering from Amazon to get it right away, as Office Depot isn't close by.

Same issue. Says download but I chose pick up in store and it says ready to pickup so I guess I'll go in and see what the deal is.

I worked in accounting for many years and have always used H&R Block for myself and family members. I think it's easier to use. Previously purchased from Newegg and never had a problem downloading the software.
