I might buy this. Ahhh so confused. Coming from 1700x I know it's an upgrade but not sure if I should just get the best of the best and go 5800x3D at this point for AM4

I think a thing to consider is that the 5700x is a lot easier to cool. If you're going to get the 5800x3d I would consider getting a beefy cooler to go with it.
Man, I don't know if I'm going crazy or the industry is pumping out CPUs faster. Feels like I literally just bought my 5600 and it's already bargain bin. I feel like they used at least wait a couple years between releases.
And this is precisely why I got a new X570S instead of B550 MB, so I could use my 2600X until 5700X prices came down some more, more than the price difference between comparable X570S and B550 MBs. Not a power user or gamer but it's nice to refresh things every few years. I'll wait till it's under $150, and will reuse the 2600X's Spire cooler.
not really a deal, it was $190 just a few days ago on Amazon and you get 3% of 5% if you have Prime. Also not sure ebay purchase will qualify for free COH3 game bundle from AMD
Wow I just "upgraded" to 11400 since I have LGA1200. It cost $90 from Hardware Swap, but now I need to buy a $40 CPU cooler to get it cooled. When unlocked to 100W to 150W, the CPU overheats really quickly.
But now Ryzen blows it out of the water. Too bad I built this PC in 2021 when Ryzen wasn't really available for under $300. Now the best I can do is 11th gen + beefy cooler.
Ahh. Sitting here running my 1600af 6-core CPU that I got for 85 bucks. Already have a decent setup otherwise (Nvme, 32GB fast RAM, aging 980ti) , I really can't justify buying 2 extra cores for my AM4 rig at this point.
My CPU pretty much sits idle while I sit on zoom/teams calls all day. The only time I'd benefit from a faster CPU is with rendering drone video in Davinci Resolve, and I just don't do that much of that anymore.
I really just need to hold off on AM5/DDR5 dropping in price. GPU upgrade makes sense, but I am holding strong since my 980ti keeps me alive long enough to get my ass kicked in Warzone.

Welcome to getting older, time just won't slow down.
