Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.

Most luxury sedans require premium so closer to $4 and you are getting 20 mpg or less quite often. I pay 4-5 cents a mile to drive my S, I imagine a 3 would be even cheaper per mile
If it's about cents per mile get yourself fiat 500 and enjoy.

'straight line acceleration' or better known as 99% of regular roadway application.
My impression was that 99% of regular roadway application was more related to being comfortably seated in ventilated seats and enjoying silky Burmester twitters? But what do I know about driving.

The only advantage that tesla had is straight line acceleration. Solely due to technology used. The technology was not invented by messiah Elon and is widely available for other companies which are taking their time to create decent vehicles.

Here's the first Porsche ever made. It's electric.
And the tech wasn't there to make it viable, plus the oil industry had something to say about. GM even killed the EV1. Nothing was going to happen until Tesla shook things up and brought the Model S to the masses.

Model S basically started gutting luxury sedan sales from the established players during the second half of the last decade. I bought my Model S in 2015 rather than consider a Panamera or an M5, for good reason. Way less maintenance and a lot more fun as a daily driver.

Kind of embarrassing for Porsche to be hoodwinked from so much market share like that. A good segue might be if only Fisker didn't meet Hurricane Sally.
I think you are confusing acceleration with cruising… unless you stop 99 times for every mile you drive I doubt your driving is 99% acceleration. 😂

Same silly argument people use to compare a Tesla to a prius. It's a dumb comparison for obvious reasons.

I guarantee you a Panamera or an M5 doesn't costs 5 cents a mile to fuel.

I think you are mixing up tesla and government. It's not saint Elon who's sending people $7 500 check so let's be honest about that part.

Clearly not enough. I'm just passing everyone onto the onramp & comfortably seated without ventilated seats in Mediterranean climate living my best life.

I liked it more when you were comparing sport sedans to two seater rice burners. If Tesla was as cheap as you want it to be, I wouldn't buy it. 🤌🏻

Absolutely. It's more like 20 cents per mile. But why does it matter? I can be in a cheap tesla for 5 cents a mile or in a well insulated Porsche for 20. To each his own.

If I wanted cents per mile I'd get Sonata hybrid. It beats tesla in every way other than 0-60 for half the price.

Didn't say anything about the tax credit and TBH, the people like me who bought S's and X's before the 3 and Y ever came out definitely were happy to take the $7500 from Uncle Sam but didn't need it to buy the car. It was simply a better car than what the Japanese or Europeans could offer.

Maybe this can explain it to you better

And here goes another quote from the link provided by tesla fanbois:

Quote :
Poor fit and finish remain a Tesla trait, evidenced by the many uneven panel gaps on our test car and its less-than-impressive interior quality for a $70,000 vehicle. The generations-old Mercedes switchgear and steering-column stalks recall Tesla's startup origins.
I wonder if you guys even read the articles you share? 210 pages of tesla praise and the conclusion is it sucks big time. C'mon.

You'll get used to it. It's net worth that makes you wealthy, not the cost of your econobox.

5K lbs sedan isn't cheap nor uninsulated, and quite frankly I'd trust the Tesla over the Porsche in a crash, afaik, the porsche probably didn't get a perfect 5-star NHTSA crash rating Wink EVs are inherently safer with much larger and stronger crumple zones, they also have lower centers of gravity, so less of a rollover risk compared to an ICE car. It's basic physics.

The fact that the safer car with better straightline performance is 4x cheaper to fuel is a cherry on top. This is slickdeals after all, amirite?

Just ask the rescuers that expected to find this family dead:

Here goes another quote from your article and that's exactly on point. It's not that German cars a bad, it's that you can't afford them. And that's exactly why this whole thread is screaming about how tesla is a luxury super car, but the article you shared when it's compared to a decent vehicle states the opposite.

Quote :
More than anything, this test reinforces that these two cars come from very different lines of thinking. While the Porsche is the one we'd want to drive if money were no object, the Model S's continuing relevance is a testament to both its core goodness as an EV and Tesla's unconventional approach to making cars. Considering that an updated Model S is imminent, this certainly won't be the last time these two sedans square off. But given the impressive range of the Long Range Plus and the tens of thousands of dollars separating it from the pricier 4S, there's no question which is the sounder investment.
