Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

There definitely was false advertising. In 2019 right on their website it said FSD will be available by the end of the year. They took it down after a few months

completely NOOB question here but I really like the collision avoidance system in Tesla (where it can stop and move on itself to avoid danger). I am looking to buy a car with this kind of technology (any brand, electric or gas).
I know other car makers have it too but I only see youtube videos of Tesla in real-world situations. How do I get more in depth info? Or if anyone here has these kinds of cars and have seen them in action can you give me feedback? thank you!
See Eurocap and IIHS crash testing/ratings for more info. Keep in mind that avoidance is in it's infancy and often fails or...it's not even required to avoid a collision in order to pass. Although Tesla have been scoring high the system is not as reliable as ABS, for example.

Going to forward this deal to my friend who just bought a Tesla model 3 last year for 68k. Just because driving Tesla is a trend.
Everything last year was much more expensive. They wanted $9k over msrp for a Kia. Tesla was still the best deal then and is now. He's trying to drive the competition out of business

Adaptive Cruise Control requires full driver supervision.
Lane Keeping often fails, but it's not named Mostly Lane Keeping.
Automatic Seatbelts required people to buckle up the lap belt.
Automatic wipers/lights fail to autimatically wipe.
List goes on.

It's just a name. No system is infallible, it's onto the buyer to read the fine print. Personally, I am not going to buy it, I'm fine with basic Autopilot.
No it's not just a name. Words have meaning and it is false advertising when companies use them to manipulate customers. SOME truth in advertising matters. 100% agree that no system is infallible, so don't name something FSD AND charge customers $15k when it clearly isn't FSD.

Elon Musk said back in 2017 that FSD can drive you from CA to NY, without intervention. It is not capable of doing that in 2023 without driver intervention, so it is not FSD. Time and time again, he says things that are clearly not true but does not face the same consequences others would. He is FSD (Full of Shit and Delirious) but still has credibility for reasons I don't understand.

This is not just semantics.

Such a good friend you are Smilie. At least anyone buying now doesn't have to worry about prices going any lower. In fact I predict they will go higher next quarter - that might make your friend a bit less unhappy.

Do you folks ever worry about natural disasters with these things? I mean, if there's an evacuation ordered, people can barely get out now with fueling taking one or two minutes per car. You're not going anywhere if it takes an hour to charge. Also, gas can be trucked in, an electric grid only has so much capacity.

I called this price drop the second the 7500 credit was offered in December. They will drop prices again. Huge huge mistake to buy now. Understand that people who want a Tesla has already overextended themselves to buy one. People who upgrade yearly will no longer want to take a hit or minus 20k in value. I'd bet in March Tesla will be selling these Model Y for 45k because they don't have a dealership network and have to hold inventory themselves. By then their lots will be so full they'll be willing to take a loss on each car sold just to meet "delivery numbers". The market would've rewarded this behavior just 2 years ago but they will get creamed for this in high interest rate environment.

Buying the stock or the car is one of the worst financial decision you can make at this moment.
Starting to get tired of idiots throwing out bs like this in defiance of the actual numbers…

Q4 2022 (that's the past 3 months, fyi) Tesla had ~30% sales growth vs the year before, on cars they were selling for ~30% more money than the year before.

Even if they hadn't dropped prices a penny, your prediction would be laughable.

Also, their margins are so high that they could cut prices well below the INITIAL prices (before all the price increases that happened the past 2 years) and still be making a profit, so years from now when they finally do catch their production up to their demand they can cut prices again.

Sorry for your stock losses. You'll eventually learn son.

BTW my prediction was correct...so is it laughable even if I'm correct? some people simply don't like to accept reality and they're ruining their financial lives. good luck please seek help if you need it. stock market is very similar to gambling addiction.

The term "Beta" does not and should not be construed to constitute a promise that it is "close" to being complete. Some things stay in beta for a very long time, usually correlating to how difficult the complete final execution is—and I can't think of much that's more difficult than Full Self Driving.

A better argument in that direction would be Elon's repeated wildly inaccurate predictions of when it WILL be complete, which I understand people being upset over. That said, those also don't rise to the level of false advertising and were the result of excitement and naïveté rather than an intentional effort to mislead people.
No one is arguing that self-driving is difficult. It is an EXTREMELY difficult problem to solve.

The PROBLEM I and others are trying to highlight is Tesla's BS marketing and Elon's blatantly false statements. If your FSD is in Beta, stop charging people for it while promising year after year that FSD is very close to fruition.

This excuse that Elon gets too excited and is naive is ridiculous. Anyone else would have been classified as a charlatan (see Trevor Milton, Elizabeth Holmes) but no, Elon is just easily excitable and naive so we shouldn't call out his BS for what it is, BS. Ridiculous. laugh out loud

You wouldn't have to charge, since your car is always fully charged at the beginning of the day. More importantly, you can sit idle in traffic for longer than someone with a huge tank of gas because the amount of battery that is used at idle is negligible, unlike a combustion engine that continues to consume a large amount of fuel to simply keep the engine rotating.

Why so many personal attacks on Tesla? Is this all about Twitter and/or Tesla? Is it about Elon and Twitter? I know people don't get their panties in a bunch like this over a car , , , or do they?

This has been happening for many years. Look at all the Tesla threads in the past. Every single one of them.

You must understand how much money is at stake. Oil industry, car salesmen, mechanics, and political extremists on both sides hate Tesla and the whole concept of EV.

If you're not one of those people, this is the best car deal right now

Ok but you'll have to stop and charge at some point, let's assume 350 miles range, you're not even getting out of Florida on that.

I already went and test drove one yesterday. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. They may have more deals in the future, but maybe not. I feel like I have to jump real soon. I prefer the model 3 looks, but the Y space. I liked it a lot.
The hate is obvious. Doesn't phase me, but there's a whole bunch!LMAO

It works sometimes. It has saved me. Definitely better to have it than not to have it. Don't over think it. You still need to be careful
