Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Increased electricity costs certainly cut into the $ savings versus gas, but the real savings is in maintenance costs by not having an engine or transmission.

200 miles of charge in 15 mins… try again, buddy.
So how does it move from point A to point B if it doesn't have an engine? EEK!

Dude, wake up, there is no price increase anymore. The reality is 20% off, $7500 credit and -70% stock.
They were talking about the price increases during calendar year 2022. Prices went up dramatically and sales were still up 38% year over year globally.

Now prices are down across the board in 2023 which will probably lead to another record setting year of sales.

I find the UI to be fine. But I use the excellent voice control 99% of the time.

-Open trunk
-Turn on/off AC
-Set AC to 68 degrees
-Turn on/off driver's seat heater
-Turn on/off heated steering wheel
-Open butthole (opens the charge port door)

Don't have to take my hands off the wheel or eyes off the road. Works perfectly fine for most tasks.
Well dude...my house is 99% voice control but that's because I need to pick up my butt otherwise so it kind of safes me a hassle.

What kind of a hassle are you saving yourself when you need to say:

-Turn on/off driver's seat heater
-Turn on/off heated steering wheel

Instead of clicking a button? Confused And do you even have a stereo in your car?

Who is paying for this tax credit?!
That's why everyone needs to buy and get tax credit. If not you are subsidizing those who are.

Recipe on making fanbois shell out more cash:

Boost price by 30%
Drop price by 20%
Profit.

I don't even want to mention interest rates as obviously nobody in this topic buys this piece of junk cash. laugh out loud

Technically half of the people in the US doesn't pay federal tax (where this tax credit is from)
And also technically no one is paying for you to buy this car, those who bought just payed a bit less tax.
Another lesson of Teslanomics.

What does paying cash have anything to do with tax credit? You sure you understand what you just wrote?

Doing the seat heater or steering wheel heat is two clicks on the screen. On my wife's Outback, I have to press a button on the dashboard several times to get to the appropriate heat setting (low, medium, high, off).

I find it easier to just press one button on the steering, and I never have to move my hand from the wheel or look down. It's just convenient.

And yes, I have music playing 100% of the time in my car — I listen to YouTube Music over Bluetooth.
