Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

https://www.efile.com/electric-ve...x-credits/

The EV tax credit is still worth up to $7,500 and will be renewed to abide by the following guidelines in January of 2023 and will last for ten years through 2032. As many are noticing, due to inflation, there are currently few electric vehicles on the market which qualify for the credit due to the pricing restriction. Here are the key points of the Clean Vehicle Credit as part of the new bill set to go into effect in 2023:

The credit is now claimed upfront or at the point of sale, going towards the cost of the car; this means the credit will paid in advance and is fully refundable. Qualified EV dealers and salespersons are to address the value of the allowed credit for the vehicle(s) in question prior to the sale. This means the EV tax credit can be used in the form of cash or as a partial payment or down payment towards the vehicle.
If you claim the credit when buying the vehicle and were ineligible for it or your tax refund is subject to recapture, you may end up paying this credit back. In other words, advance payments of this credit are treated in the same manner as a tax refund would be treated.
?

In 2024 you can claim it upfront, but not this year.

Anyone get their updated ETAs for the Model Y?

Please post:
1. When did you order
2. What upgrade options did you select
3. What city/state do you live

Funny how I was looking at used RAV4s, only to deposit for a CRV 2023, then SD effect got me to order a Model Y. Like way over my intended budget...but YOLO, and hopefully worth in the long run lol.

How much does the M3 RWD in NJ cost after incentives? 44k MSRP minus 7.5 federal credit & 4k NJ at point of sale? 32.5k net without sales tax?

Nice, but wow that's insane tax. Don't forget there is a registration fee, I think mine is $250. You do get the order fee subtracted back out, so that's nice. But then you have to buy your own charger, and the cheapest is a mobile for $230 lol.

Yes can be combined. They are separate program. You just have to apply through PSEG EV program. I got JuiceBox from Costco. It's great so far but that PSEG EV program application was a bit of a PIA. Took a few weeks to get all sorted out. Good luck.
Thanks for the heads up. I am looking to implement the Juicebox 40 home charger installation through PSE&G as well.

I am still in the process of gathering information regarding all applicable rebates through NJ.

Can you please PM me with some helpful information regarding the PSEG EV application?

Were you able to qualify for the $250 rebate by purchasing through Costco?
