Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

We're over 300k limit. But my wife is under 150k so can we buy it under her name and file taxes (married but separately) to get tax credit?
The only way is to divorce her.

I've found 3 so far, 2 specific to NJ, one federal -
NJ state $250 rebate for approved chargers [njcleanenergy.com]
Federal 30% credit for approved chargers [irs.gov] (up to $1,000)
PSEG rebate for installation [pseg.com] (up to $1,500)

Let me know if you find more.

wow, that is awesome! I just cancelled my tesla wall charger after seeing this. the PSEG one is kind of complicated.

wait can you elaborate on this. what's special about after feb. 28th?

where did you get the 9000 and 7500?

CVRP is only 2000 + 2500 if you're low income + 2500 when you trade up old car.
then 7500 from federal.
read the detail for cvrp.. i assumed you just glanced quickly.. go back and read it carefully..
post feb 28.. if u can qualify.. max rebate is 7500 instead of current 4500

9k is from junking to buy an ev.. i had a pos ice that isnt worth anything

What would be better? The Model Y or the new 2023 Prius?

Still in two minds if I go with the Tesla wall charger or JuiceBox. Tesla wall charger is ~$375 with no state incentives. Not sure it qualifies under federal 30% credit either. But it works wonderful with Tesla cars.

The JuiceBox is ~$690, and after 30% credit and $250 NJ rebate, it will cost $230. The only benefit is it works with other EVs. Plus the potential of off-peak-credit in the future.

I think this might be possible. As per IRS, it's all other filers for < under 150k.

In addition, your modified adjusted gross income (AGI) may not exceed:

$300,000 for married couples filing jointly
$225,000 for heads of households
$150,000 for all other filers

Saw tesla lower the price last week. Was on the fence between maybe a mach E, polstar or model 3.

Soon as I saw the price change ordered a model 3 in NJ

Even better the model 3 with the right options qualified for the $4k state rebate.

Ordered I think wednesday, Vin number popped up yesterday and today I scheduled a delivery for next week

Pretty fast - wasn't existing inventory either

Model 3 RWD , Metallic blue

Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive $43,990
Metallic Blue Paint $1,000
18'' Aero Wheels Included
All Black Partial Premium Interior Included
Autopilot Included

Subtotal $44,990
Destination Fee $1,390
Order Fee $250
Total $46,630

Federal Tax Credit: -$7,500
NJ Incentive: -$4,000

Total $35,130
