Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.

What economic pain in 2023?
MS just layed off 10,000 employees, Amazon 18,000, tech here in CA has been rocked with thousands of people let go, companies continue to close, many pulled out of the market, nasdaq 1 year performance looks like a ski slope, commercial RE vacancy rate in SF and much of Bay Area is approaching 28%. What economic pain indeed.

How long did the account creation take at tower? Submitted the app but its says pending review. Setup and account at GCCU also and it shows the same. Maybe it will get created in a day or so. My delivery was updated to next month so I guess we will see.
I submitted a membership app at Tower on Sunday and Wednesday night I'm still waiting on them to process it. Put an app in GCCU just in case.

Are there any rebates for low income folks who do not qualify for the 7500 tax credit?

If you're income is low enough to not even pay 7.5K in taxes you can't afford a 50k car. Edit: Not trying to be rude but that would be a terrible financial decision

Ok. Thanks. Pretty rude to make that comment. My wife and I make $110k combined. We have some savings and would like a nice car. But your comment is demoralizing. Hope you have a better day tomorrow.

Went ahead and ordered my Mobile charger since they increased the price of the wall charger didn't want to worry about any sneaky price increases
Using the 14-50 adapter Wink
I've been trying to do my own research online to learn more about charging options but am curious about the utility of ordering a mobile charger in addition to a wall connector. Per Tesla's website, all new cars come with a type c/f (220-240 V) adaptor, which offers only 2-3 mi/hr charging but is at least a home charging option until I get an electrician to install the wall connector.

Does also having the mobile charger give you more charging optionality at home or is that just useful when you're out and about? Thanks

There is no way you make $110k combined and don't have $7500 tax liability before child tax credits, withholding, etc. You should qualify for the rebate. I would check your 1040 again.

other when march kicks in n the tax window is out n all the japan/korean ice car buys are crying about paying 5-10k markup on gas cars that cost just as much as a base tesla 3.
But prior to March. Seems like a whole bunch of people are good with getting in. After March, probably not, unless some other change is made? Time will tell.
