Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Did Musk personally gave you this information?
Or you stumbled upon this information last night?
This is public information Tesla had surplus vehicles in q4 2022. This never happened before in q1-q3. Cost was high with inflation and layoffs might another reason.

So when should we expect to see the average price for a used MY drop below $30k?

The lyriq is not the same price. It's $63,000 with the base model. That's $10,000 more. Do you even research?
62k loaded for cadilla. Model y base was just dropped in price. have you tried a loaded model y price? 66k non performance with enhanced AP, same as cruise option in Cadillac.

tesla is the lowest-rated car in the world. don't even bother comparing it to a Cadillac and this is coming from a model s owner.

or 3 Kia Fortes?

You should compare to peers, Y to EV SUVs. The only thing that comes close is Audi Q4 or Ford MME and they're almost 50K. I believe Ford does get the tax credit, but no 3 rows so it's out for me
have you actually compared the ride quality and comfort vs an Audi q4? the Y is not even close.

the q4 is silent and pleasant. the Y is loud in the cabin and road noise on the 3 and y are horrible.

the need air suspension on those cars like the model s and x.

I've placed my order for Model Y with FSB. My understanding is that it should qualify for $7,500 credit as it's considered a SUV, is this correct? (Yes, I did my research and is 99% confident, but guess that it doesn't hurt to ask here).

Description Total in USD
Model Y Long Range Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive $52,990
Pearl White Paint Included
19'' Gemini Wheels Included
All Black Premium Interior Included
Seven Seat Interior $4,000
Autopilot Included
Full Self-Driving Capability $15,000
Subtotal $71,990
Destination Fee $1,390
Order Fee $250
Total $73,630
Your qualified.
As your config is 7 seater which threshold at $80k.

Best place to check is on Tesla website where the check mark shows if your config qualifies or not while placing an order.
Mock exact order and it will show you.

The original statement that you blatantly and incorrectly criticized described a case where the "government" sends you $17,500 when you are "owed" $10,000 originally. I don't know what is so hard to understand either.
If I misread what the original comment, then that's my fault but that doesn't make what I said incorrect. Which was that "if you owe the government $10,000, you would get the full $7500 refund." I never argued about what "you are owed" Not sure why you can't get that through your thick skull.

All of the established OEMs are making bev's. Hybrids have been around 20 years they have batteries. Toyota hybrids have huge demand and are super reliable. Yet when the Prius came out everyone screamed and shouted the same thing you are saying now.
That's coz it's a Toyota. Are you really saying Tesla's build quality and reliability rivals Toyota's. Ha

+5 hours time spent at dealer that you will never get back just to buy the stupid thing.
Why would you set foot in a dealer before you had everything ironed out?

I haven't gone to a dealer without having everything in place in years. Every dealer has an "internet department". Email them all, the ones who want to play ball respond. It is 2023 not 1983

As far as ADMs, if you are willing to order, like most are doing here for the Tesla, there isn't a car you can't get at MSRP, except maybe a Z06. Cast a wider net.

I am wondering if taking a loan out for a portion of the car makes it worthwhile. I don't think I remember a time when borrowing was lower than savings rates. If I have the cash to pay for the car up front. Assuming loans from GCCU or Tower don't include any other fees and don't have any prepayment penalties. Not sure if Dave Ramsey would agree but the math seems to work. Here is my math let me know if I am missing anything.

M3P $58,0000
Cash Down payment: $28,000
Financing $30,0000 @ GCCU 2.49% for 36 months
Placing the $30,000 in Savings instead of paying the car off at purchase.
Loan interest paid in 36 Months : - $1,165.55
$25,000 in Juno 5% interest account: Interest Earned + $4,036.80
$5000 in Wealthfront @ 3.8%: +$602.75

Difference between the interest and loan is + $3,474 of 3 years by placing money in savings rather than paying the car off.
This is assuming Juno stays at 5%, obviously be lower if they drop the rate but if there is no pre-payment penalty I guess you can always pay the car off.

Change the narrative now huh!?

" The amount orders Tesla received is crazy now." Was this public information in December. Lol.

Your behind must have good public relations with Tesla. It sure receives and produces tons of information.

The fully load dual motor awd lyriq is actually $65k. The 62k is only single motor rwd. When you compare the awd model y to the awd lyriq, the price is more than $10,000. You're also eligible for an EV credit up to $7500, which knocks down the price even more. It's a no brainer.

math works out IF you can get 2.49%, but then you are paying too much downpayment. might as well pay 8,000 and finance the whole 50k. Even Marcus is paying 3.3% in savings so you should just borrow as much as you can.

Does anyone know if Tesla still allows 5k(max allow)as a credit card payment? When I bought my model 3 four years ago I put 5k on a credit card and the rest cash. Obviously the credit card was for rewards.
Credit card as a payment is no longer valid .

You can only use CC for the $250 booking fee
