Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Congrat!!! what is your delivery states (from xx to xx day/Month) before your Vin assigned?
Quote from kingzq :
Picked our 19' white LRY this afternoon. Austin built, no matrix light, no Radar sensor, Ryzen chip.

Most joint gap is normal/consistent. Most visible inconsistent gap is between the trunk cover and the body, the front bumper has a bit larger gap to the fender, but our Honda Clarity has similar pattern. No rattling noise of any kind driving back. Don't think will be making service appointments for those. Overall I would say build quality is on par with our Honda, maybe less than our BMW 330.

Time line: order placed on 9:30am CST 1/13, 19' white LRY with no added options. Vin assigned on 1/18, picked up at afternoon 1/24. Coordinate, north DFW, TX.

Isnt it too late to get the tax credit anyway? I dont think anyone who orders after the increase would get delivery by March.
well nobody knows what type of "guidance" treasury will actually release in march...

ouch 41c/kwh is very high. here in fl its 12c/kwh while average cost in the us is 16c so your calculation is quite outside the norms. also, similar sized hybrid suv like 2023 cr-v is average 40mpg which further reduces the cost for the y.

just go here and plug in the numbers to see. mylr is 3.57 mi/kwh. for my locality, ev comes out to 90mpg compared to 40mpg hybrid.

My calculations are correct. You are not including the opportunity savings for a lower monthly payment for a hybrid.
We can get into what is a comparable vehicle discounts prices and all that.

The point I am trying to make is that gas savings are not necessarily true for everyone. Do your calculations for your situation before making your purchase decisions.

the rush is that the government is cutting it to $3750 in march.
You are correct, reading Form 8936 and has the quote:
--
https://www.irs.gov/instructions/i8936

Credit Phaseout: The phaseout begins in the second calendar quarter after the quarter in which the 200,000th vehicle was sold. Then the phaseout allows 50% of the full credit for 2 quarters, 25% of the full credit for 2 additional quarters, and no credit thereafter.
--
So post March deliveries, the credit will most likely be only $3750 and $1875 in Q4 2023.

Looks like it.

In addition, your modified adjusted gross income (AGI) may not exceed:

$300,000 for married couples filing jointly
$225,000 for heads of households
$150,000 for all other filers
You can use your modified AGI from the year you take delivery of the vehicle or the year before, whichever is less. If your modified AGI is below the threshold in 1 of the two years, you can claim the credit.

I placed an order last week for a Model Y 7 seat with no options, but was able to transfer over to an inventory vehicle. Got a super nice Tesla salesperson on the phone last night and found a 7-seater white interior and tow package (two options I was thinking about changing to if available) locally. This wasn't listed anywhere (didn't show up on discord or TSLA website). It had FSD as an option but they removed it for me. Excited to get it before March.

Hmm.. He is setting the prices like its a grocery store business. I am not into a white color car. Was debating and silver metallic stays at $1000 as well (earlier it was at no cost).
