Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

If anyone is interested in hard numbers to figure out how much less expensive it is now compared to Tesla's best deal of 2022 - $7,500 discount with 10,000 free Supercharger miles - I bought a Tesla Model Y Long Range 7-Seater with white interior in late December 2022.

Excluding taxes and fees, I paid $63,940. It's now $59,630, which is $4,310 less, and it is eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. That means if I didn't buy it in December and bought it today, I would have saved $11,810 + sales tax, so a bit over $12,000 in savings I missed. (I got 10,000 Supercharger miles, which is worth somewhere between $500 and $1,000.) With taxes and fees, I paid $71,578.55 in total.

For those who do order, I recommend this Tesla Prep guide [glideapp.io] to check for build quality issues on delivery day.

I hope this helps,

Tesla plans to add a new radar product to its vehicles in mid-January, according to documents posted with the Federal Communications Commission.

The disclosure, which was first reported by Electrek, comes as the company faces scrutiny over the safety and capabilities of its standard advanced driver assistance system known as Autopilot and the $15,000 optional upgraded product branded as "Full Self-Driving." Tesla FSD beta software offers some automated driving features but is not a self-driving system.

The luxury EV-maker has long claimed it could reach full autonomy through a "vision only" approach that shuns other sensors like lidar and radar in favor of cameras and a deep neural network that quickly processes a vehicle's surroundings and responds in real time. Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously promised to "solve" full self-driving by the end of this year (he's also promised Tesla would get there every year for roughly nine years now). He has recently admitted the problem will take longer to solve.

And perhaps, as every other autonomous vehicle technologist says, it's not actually achievable yet through cameras alone.

The company began removing radar from its vehicles last May. In October, Tesla removed its 12 ultrasonic sensors from Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built for North America, Europe, the Middle East and Taiwan. Ultrasonic sensors measure distance via ultrasonic waves and are used as proximity sensors to support anti-collision safety systems, particularly in parking use cases.

Now it appears radar is back. It's not yet clear which models will get the new radar. The type of radar Tesla intends to market next year is of a frequency that's allocated by the FCC for ADAS use cases, according to Ram Machness, chief business officer at Arbe Robotics, which produces ultra-high-resolution 4D imaging radar.

Tesla had originally filed with the FCC to use the new radar — which is described in filings as "76-77 GHz Automotive Radar" — in its vehicles back in June.

"From the frequency of operation (76-77GHz) as well as the mechanical design of the sensor from Tesla's FCC filing, it appears that this radar would be utilized in ADAS applications," Steven Hong, VP and general manager of radar technology at semiconductor company Ambarella, told TechCrunch.

He noted that while the performance of this "edge" radar sensor will be limited, it's a positive development that Tesla is looking to add radar to its perception stack for safety-critical, robust performance.

Earlier this year, the FCC had granted a confidential treatment to Tesla in order to keep the details of the new radar under wraps. Late last month, Tesla applied to extend that confidentiality treatment another 60 days from its date of expiration, which is December 7.

i hope this answers your question

edit: ACTUAL LINK TO DEAL https://www.tesla.com/modely/design (SD's link goes to existing inventory page)
Wayback Machine if anyone wants to do some research: https://web.archive.org/web/20220...ely/design

I'll throw out some notable 'milestones' , focusing only on the Model Y LR base model:

* Feb 2021 - $49,000 - Roughly the lowest price for the Y LR (not including the SR @ $42k)
From this point forward, Tesla started increasing the price about $1-2 every month or so, until it peaked out at $66,000. Ex:
* May 2021 - $51,000
* July 2021 - $53,000, etc...
* Feb 2022 - $59,000, etc...
* July 2022 - $66,000 <-- peak
* Dec 1 2022 - $66,000 (-$3750 credit/refund)
* Dec 15 2022 - $66,000 (-$7500 credit/refund)
* Jan 1 2023 - $66,000 back to peak (-$7500 fed tax credit only on 7-seater)
* Jan 13 2023 - $53,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Jan 23 2023 - $53,500 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Feb 4 2023 - $55,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on all models)

If there is same configuration available near by location or in the same state, Tesla is honoring the same price as original order which is $500 less for early delivery. I called today and had early delivery Feb 4 mine.

I had a model y 7 seater blue, white interior on order since late summer last year, hoping to bank on the high trade in value of my model 3 2018. After placing it on hold after skipping delivery after getting VIN (d/t low TIV) , I finally got another VIN in mid January for pickup yesterday. I went ahead with the delivery considering the dropped prices and potential tax rebate.

I love it. No panel gap issues, got the matrix headlights too. Only issue was the dual motor emblem being crooked which the fixed before I left yesterday.

I will miss my free premium connectivity, FSD, and no USS from my previous car for sure, but the upgrades this car provides in comparison to my previous car outweighs them for sure.

This car is much quieter while driving, no rattling at all, and a much smoother driving experience.

Got some Tuxmats on order for delivery for Monday, after reading forums that those mats are the ones to get.
What did you / will you do with your Model 3? What were the stats on that? I'm in a similar boat. For me, Mid-range 2019 with FSD. I've been offered 21k a few places, and today I was offered $14k. :-O Looks like I'm going to have to sell it myself.

Again, there are many of us who bought recently where we asked if Tesla can offer some goodwill which is very different from saying we are entitled to the differences.

For those who were about to sell/trade their used Tesla that all of the sudden it's now worth much less, it's up to them to try see what they want to do. At the end of the day, it's not me who draw the line, it's up to Tesla if they want to do nothing or do something to show good will.
tesla has already said there will be no compensation. end of story.

For those Tower applicants, do we have to "mail" the power of attorney to them? if so, is the 7901 address the one to be sent to?

sorry you arent tesla's target audience.. anyways 37k tesla is a steal for the ev and features.. even 36k corolla dont even come with responsive ipad display
Again more misinformation being spread with zero backing. What are standard options on Tesla IPAD ? and how much are you on hook monthly for using "premium options" like Maps? You guys can spine this as the deal of the century.. but it's not for well-informed consumers.

You are so ill informed I don't even know where to start. Mercedes was recently approved for level 3 driving. Tesla has not reached level 3. Do you live under a rock? Tesla is no longer miles ahead of other companies on this. Read the news once and awhile- you might learn something

The point is that tesla chose not to include a feature that wouldn't cost them much. It costs them maybe $500 at most to include USS. Huge oversight in cars with otherwise great tech.
From what I've read, it has a lot of limitations

• Designated highway only (no streets)
• Below 40mph
• There must be cars in front of you
• Must be able to take over within 10 seconds (no sleeping)
• Will not change lanes
• Does not work at night
• Does not work in rain, fog, or below 3 Celsius
• Does not work if there is construction nearby

So in this exact certain scenario, it will operate level 3.

Just an update for those who applied with Tower FCU. They are processing apps using first in first out (FIFO). From what I know they're working on those that applied around 1/18-1/19 at the moment. Once the eCommerce team starts working on your membership application it takes them a day or two to process the information. It helps to have already uploaded your identification (driver's license front and back) to the online portal. It does not help to call them until they reach out to you, it only ties up their customer support agents even more. Once they have reviewed and approved your membership, you will be contacted via the portal messaging to sign your membership document via DocuSign (or snail mail) and complete payment. Once these steps are complete it will be another business day to receive your membership information.

Separately, if you applied for a loan application at the same time as your membership, it will likely be approved much sooner. Once it is approved it sits in an "approved pending" state until your membership is completed. Once your membership is complete and account opened, it is recommended at this time to call in to the loan dept and let them know so they can proceed with disbursement of your funding/check.

Hope this helps both the people on this thread and Tower.

What will everyone moan about in a couple of months when Tesla restores the USS functionality via software? Go ahead and start planning, my man!
