Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Picked up mine on Saturday in Seattle SODO. Grabbed the in-inventory MYLR5 in red/black with 20' induction.
  • OD date: 1/19
  • EDD (1): Jan-March
  • EDD (2): Feb 26-March 31
  • Switch to in-inventory on Feb 3 @10a when Treasury announced all Model Y qualified. Drove to local Tesla center. Got VIN immediately
The car itself:
  • Fremont Built
  • Matrix headlights
  • No paint issue, no gap issues
  • does have cargo cover
  • Tesla person who checked me out just used my phone to schedule for the PPF and front mudflaps install. Tesla confirmed appointment and made it mobile install

If you have say $10k down, the app will prompt you to make final payment about 24hr before scheduled delivery. You can actually wait until you go to pickup the car before you pay via plaid.
How about 3rd party payment for rest of the loan? Do I take a proof of copy that it was wired? Or proof of pre-approval? Anyone who actually bought using 3rd party loan pls help answer …

How do you get Tesla to install the PPF, even with a price? Is that something that you can specify when ordering?

They said it's region specific and if it's in stock. I took that as some regions have the PPF and front mudflaps in stock for install. I know that it's available in OR, WA, and MN. Not sure about the other states.

The PPF itself is only this one from Tesla [tesla.com] ($50). Mudflaps are only the front.

In your Tesla app, under service, you request a service appt and put in the note that you want PPF and mudflaps. They'll reach out to you to confirm.

While I may not answer the part regarding 3rd party loan, I do know that they won't let you leave the lot (release the car) until they know that everything has been paid. So proof of pre-approval won't do anything. I could never get through their phone lines so I would suggest you text the 562 number and ask or go to a Tesla center to ask.

the PPF isn't for the entire car, just the rocker panel right above the rear wheels

Thank you for the response! We're you eligible from the $5 donation? I can't seem to find info on how to make that donation.

This is how CVRP will calculate your income eligibility:

On IRS Form 1040: Sum of lines 1–7. Line 9 is not used to calculate total gross income for the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project.
and (if applicable),

On IRS Form 1040 Schedule 1: Sum of lines 1-8.
Note: If Line 8, "Other Income," is negative, then it will not be included as part of CVRP's income calculation, unless an exception applies. If Line 8 on Schedule 1 is negative, then the corresponding "Statement" filed with your 1040 must be provided. CVRP will review documentation for possible exceptions. One such exception is the inclusion of a negative community property adjustment. Net operating losses carried over from previous years are not an exception.
For 2023 tax return, right?

Region specific:Fremont Built (not sure about Austin)
  • Matrix headlights (there are rumors that Tesla is running out of these and some Fremont may not come with it)
  • Cargo Cover
All builts get carpeted floor mats in the front rows and the back rows (as well as third row for the 7-seater).

When the membership CSR calls you they'll get your payment and do it all themselves. You'll need to open a checking acct if you plan to do direct deposit. I initiated $50 so $5 went to donation and $45 went into the checking acct.
