Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

If anyone is interested in hard numbers to figure out how much less expensive it is now compared to Tesla's best deal of 2022 - $7,500 discount with 10,000 free Supercharger miles - I bought a Tesla Model Y Long Range 7-Seater with white interior in late December 2022.

Excluding taxes and fees, I paid $63,940. It's now $59,630, which is $4,310 less, and it is eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. That means if I didn't buy it in December and bought it today, I would have saved $11,810 + sales tax, so a bit over $12,000 in savings I missed. (I got 10,000 Supercharger miles, which is worth somewhere between $500 and $1,000.) With taxes and fees, I paid $71,578.55 in total.

For those who do order, I recommend this Tesla Prep guide [glideapp.io] to check for build quality issues on delivery day.

I hope this helps,

Tesla plans to add a new radar product to its vehicles in mid-January, according to documents posted with the Federal Communications Commission.

The disclosure, which was first reported by Electrek, comes as the company faces scrutiny over the safety and capabilities of its standard advanced driver assistance system known as Autopilot and the $15,000 optional upgraded product branded as "Full Self-Driving." Tesla FSD beta software offers some automated driving features but is not a self-driving system.

The luxury EV-maker has long claimed it could reach full autonomy through a "vision only" approach that shuns other sensors like lidar and radar in favor of cameras and a deep neural network that quickly processes a vehicle's surroundings and responds in real time. Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously promised to "solve" full self-driving by the end of this year (he's also promised Tesla would get there every year for roughly nine years now). He has recently admitted the problem will take longer to solve.

And perhaps, as every other autonomous vehicle technologist says, it's not actually achievable yet through cameras alone.

The company began removing radar from its vehicles last May. In October, Tesla removed its 12 ultrasonic sensors from Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built for North America, Europe, the Middle East and Taiwan. Ultrasonic sensors measure distance via ultrasonic waves and are used as proximity sensors to support anti-collision safety systems, particularly in parking use cases.

Now it appears radar is back. It's not yet clear which models will get the new radar. The type of radar Tesla intends to market next year is of a frequency that's allocated by the FCC for ADAS use cases, according to Ram Machness, chief business officer at Arbe Robotics, which produces ultra-high-resolution 4D imaging radar.

Tesla had originally filed with the FCC to use the new radar — which is described in filings as "76-77 GHz Automotive Radar" — in its vehicles back in June.

"From the frequency of operation (76-77GHz) as well as the mechanical design of the sensor from Tesla's FCC filing, it appears that this radar would be utilized in ADAS applications," Steven Hong, VP and general manager of radar technology at semiconductor company Ambarella, told TechCrunch.

He noted that while the performance of this "edge" radar sensor will be limited, it's a positive development that Tesla is looking to add radar to its perception stack for safety-critical, robust performance.

Earlier this year, the FCC had granted a confidential treatment to Tesla in order to keep the details of the new radar under wraps. Late last month, Tesla applied to extend that confidentiality treatment another 60 days from its date of expiration, which is December 7.

i hope this answers your question

edit: ACTUAL LINK TO DEAL https://www.tesla.com/modely/design (SD's link goes to existing inventory page)
Wayback Machine if anyone wants to do some research: https://web.archive.org/web/20220...ely/design

I'll throw out some notable 'milestones' , focusing only on the Model Y LR base model:

* Feb 2021 - $49,000 - Roughly the lowest price for the Y LR (not including the SR @ $42k)
From this point forward, Tesla started increasing the price about $1-2 every month or so, until it peaked out at $66,000. Ex:
* May 2021 - $51,000
* July 2021 - $53,000, etc...
* Feb 2022 - $59,000, etc...
* July 2022 - $66,000 <-- peak
* Dec 1 2022 - $66,000 (-$3750 credit/refund)
* Dec 15 2022 - $66,000 (-$7500 credit/refund)
* Jan 1 2023 - $66,000 back to peak (-$7500 fed tax credit only on 7-seater)
* Jan 13 2023 - $53,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Jan 23 2023 - $53,500 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Feb 4 2023 - $55,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on all models)

Picked up my MYLR today. Exterior looks all good but the doors don't close smoothly. Had to apply pressure to close properly. Also when driving at high speeds, I am hearing whistling sound from the side somewhere. Anyone else face these issues?

I'm surprised your dates haven't changed. I'm picking mine up sunday, if all goes well. They did give me a VIN once and took it back. But they game me another a few days later.
Good luck

Just got this message had my delivery scheduled for 20th. Could have possibly picked it up on 17th on reschedule but its supposed to raining and I am busy with work. Figured it would be hard to see defects etc in the rain/wet condition and willing to wait a few more days. They said it only takes 15 minutes is that right? Figured it would take me a little while to look the car over and go through a delivery sheet? Anyone know if they do a free Lyft or Uber pickup? I am 30 minutes away from the location.

"Hi, Your Model 3 is on-site! If you would prefer to take delivery of your Model 3 sooner than your currently scheduled appointment, please take this opportunity to schedule a new appointment here:

Congratulations, and we look forward to seeing you soon!"
Raleigh --- We went 30-40mins early and inspected car it was ready to go and parked in delivery area. They were so busy that SA got free at our appointment time only.. Yes you just sign papers in 10mins it was like 3-4 papers only. And then you are set to go...They were not explaining features or anything. After siging paperwork we stayed there for 20-30mins to make sure everything was ok. I do have 2 minor defect 1 small gap in rear light and 1 small gum or maybe in paint which can get buffed out which i noticed when inspected at home. I scheduled through app for service and the estimate is zero😃

same repair cost as a 50k corolla.. whats your point.. don't be a dummy and damage your car so u won't have to pay for out of pocket repairs? oh u mean something faulty on less than 3 years old car? theres warrranty for those.. u know tesla comes with warranty right? LOL spewing nonsense fud .
Corolla can be fixed anywhere which makes it a great deal. Teslas are very limited to where they can be repaired.

Don't think you need a 15 page checklist listing common defects when you pick up a Corolla.

How's that FSD working out?

Ya, it's kind of stupid that membership takes longer than loan itself. BTW, how do I know how long am I preapproved until? The email doesn't say the date.
If you look in "Conditional Approval Letter" it says that they need to receive all documentation by specific date. That's the 30day time. Ugh mine is 19th actually. Great, somehow I have a feeling they will be very slow opening accounts so they don't have to give out that low rate.

Can you clarify what delivery sheet you are referring to? Is there some checklist that we can use to check for defects when taking delivery
There are a few diffrent ones, I am not sure which is the best but you can search in App store on your phone either "Tesla Prep" or 'Tesla Delivery"

If there is something better please correct me as I will likely use one of the above.
