Depends on your uses. Are you planning on projects that need a lot of repeated precision? If so a cabinet saw would be better. Do you need portability? Then this is better suited. This model does have a decent fence and has a stand included which is nice. I believe it can do dados as well.

if you are a homeowner, and plan on using this for homeowner projects, this is more then sufficient.

but if you check home depot or lowes, you can get a ryobi or craftsman for cheaper.

if you dont need the base, you can get a tabletop version even cheaper

A lot of qualifiers here, but If you're only going to use it occasionally, and you can get by with an 8.25" saw, and if you have a Tractor Supply local, go in and check for a Dewalt DWE7485 with stand on clearance for $199.

Personally, I'd tell you to just buy the $100 WEN track saw, and wait for a good deal on a (on-WEN) guide rail setup. You'll be $200-$250 in, and you don't need to worry about the dangers of low dollar table saws.

I don't know what other tools you have, but with a few tools, and the tracksaw, the table saw is pretty much obsolete.

IF ... they have any. If they do l, then I'd take that over the (overly-hyped by "influencers" and certain Youtubers), Skil table saw, even if its not on sale.

This is a great saw and basically the only budget saw that has a proper rack-and-pinion fence. It also has a very decent rip capacity. AFAIK the only other 10-inch job site saw that has a rack-and-pinion fence is the Dewalt at more than double the price.

Unless I was going to spend way more on the Dewalt or go up to a Saw Stop cabinet saw I think this is one of the best saws on the market.

I highly recommend this saw- probably the best at this price point and until you go past $500. I have this saw for amateur woodworking. I've been able to make boxes, cabinets, all square, plenty of power, no problem. Can also cut dados in plywood no problems at all. The blade is square to the slots and fence. And the rack and pinion fence is excellent.

My main gripe is the 25" rip capacity, but short of a contractor or cabinet saw, hard to get much wider. In feed length is also awkwardly short, but you can make a infeed extension pretty easily.

Check out these reviews:

I can't recommend this enough for the average homeowner or hobby woodworker. Don't let the guys with a $3000 saw stop cabinet saw make you think that's the only game in town!

AMA if you've got questions

I enjoy using mine. I use it for home improvement stuff and my woodworking hobby. I like the integrated stand since I can fold it up and put it on my bench in the garage for storage. I think this is a great beginner saw.

Also available at Walmart and Lowes for the same price. They give 90 days to return, unlike Amazon which only gives you 30. If you have a Lowe's card then you have a year.
