not recommended! tried the WD NAS in the past, and it's just poor user experience. very likely they had to crack open the box to update firmware again and get it rectified.

I'm just using it for a local file server. Sounds like they have WD reds in them, you're essentially getting a low quality NAS for the price of the drive, and if you are just file serving and not transcoding, nearly anything can do that.

My Cloud drives are awful. The one thing they should be good for is having some sort of cloud storage without a monthly fee, but WD is constantly making older units End of Life with no security updates. So you get a few years and then you risk having all your data jacked unless you buy a new one.
