  • 12-Cup Glass Carafe included with your brewer
  • Brew an 8, 10, or 12-cup carafe and an 8, 10, or 12 oz. cup
  • The 60 oz. water reservoir is shared between the single serve and carafe brewing
  • Automatically pauses your coffee maker mid-brew for 20 seconds, allowing the carafe to be poured.
  • Auto off feature for both your brewer and your heating plate: turns your brewer off 1 minute after the last single cup brew and turns your heating plate off 2 hours after the last carafe brew.
  • Accommodates travel mugs up to 7.0" tall.

You know, I thought the same when I got the K-Duo Plus, but I just hit the power button, start my brew, then go brush my teeth or something. By the time I'm done, the coffee is ready. You're already waiting about a min for the brew, so you're really just waiting a few extra min. It didn't bother me as much as I thought it would.
That's why it's the "essentials" line. Just the basics

I have the Cuisinart model like this one that I don't use very often because when using a K-cup the it splashes everywhere. Does this one do the same?

More specifically, yes the pot side requires paper or reusable basket filters. The kcup side does not, and unlike the basic Keurig the water tank does not have charcoal filter packet

We have no issues with the water or pours on ours, only issue we sometimes have is getting it to shut off /switch modes when it's already on/ turn the hotplate back on after it times out. No issues starting it from cold/off
