I have had both the gen 1 and gen 2 wired. I went back to the gen 1 wired because of the wide screen ratio, as opposed to the tall ratio. Plus it has better resolution. For those of us with a side mounted doorbell, the wide is much better and much more useful

I prefer this version over the newer Gen 2. It has better resolution and a wider fish eye. It's also used with the Nest app which in my opinion is far better than the google home app (required with Gen 2) because you get more features. You also get facial recognition and it will announce who's at the door by name if linked to a google home speaker. Another bonus is that it won't stop recording if it gets too cold outside like the Gen 2 will…lol.

Decent deal, I don't like nest myself. I have this exact one it quits working, then it comes back on it's own. I don't like how they want to leech you money for it's subscription.

There was a better deal in December from staples, but this is a good price. This is also the better of the nest doorbells because of the resolution. This will use both the nest and google home app.

I'll add that if this is the only device you intend to use with no additional cameras, you should be able to pay only $50/yr for 24/7 recording, and that includes nest aware with facial recognition.

Ehhh for this price I'm gonna get one to replace my front door one. Same model that reboots when someone presses the doorbell because the battery is dead. Going to move the old one to my back door for 24/7 camera and when gramps comes through the back and the doors locked he can just ring instead of knock

This is a better doorbell than gen 2. Gen 1 has better resolution and a wider field of view. Gen 2 is an optimized version to reduce the data you send on nest aware. I have both and I would always buy Gen 1 over Gen 2. Do not get fooled by versions.

So I've had both the gen 1 nest and now the ring pro 2. Went away from nest because it was trash for audio after a couple years.

That said having lived with ring one now omg I want a nest again lol.

Don't get me wrong I love rings customer service and prices. But, I feel like I got better and more acute alerts with the nest. The ring triggers person alerts on windy days because I have a tree on my front walk way. Nest never did that and ring doesn't tell me about every package which is annoying.

Oh plus the 24/7 recording is nice. Really like it over this trigger on motion recording.

Do you know if you buy this are you still able to get locked into the $50/yr? They've updated their plans when google took over but the gen 1 doorbells are grandfathered in however not sure that works for new purchases.

I accidentally deleted my home from the google app and lost my legacy subscription with no way to get it back. I either now have to pay $60 for only event recordings or $120 to get the 24/7. Looking into alternatives but if buying this would somehow get the $50 subscription back I'd gladly do it.

Yes I have the same issue with the battery in mine. Replaced a perfectly fine transformer before I tracked it down to the battery issue.
