Bought this last time. Sort of regret it as it's an expansion set. You sort of need to buy Lego 71360 first which is like $48. You don't have to, but 71360 seems to never go on sale. So they keep dropping 71388 and then once you purchase that one, then you're like, whoops.

Why would you buy this without having one of the interactive characters? 🤣

Target has put the starter sets on sale several times. If you wait that will come around again or some sort of GC deal. Costco had the peach starter set for $20 a few weeks ago. May be able to locate one of those if you are lucky.
Set is worth it for the Sumo bro. It's a good design and my kids love using him on the airship with the other koopalings. Like most of the character sets, the extras are just that, extra. Buy it for the cool characters to make the other Lego sets come to life!
Waiting for the Big Bad Island set to drop closer to $30 to get Iggy. $45 for that set I just don't think is worth it.
