P.C. Richard & Son has the
Hisense 75U8H on sale for
$1299.
Shipping is extra, and is freight. It was
$150 to Colorado.
This may be one of the last chances to get one of the
best reviewed TVs of 2022 [rtings.com]. It's been out of stock on both Amazon and Best Buy for months with no expected restock date.
Edit: It looks like it's still in stock locally at Best Buy for some people, and they will price match this price. So it's worth checking Best Buy first since they offer free shipping:

If you are really into HDR, there is no better tv than this one.
The downsides are yes it does have motion issues, especially if you use the motion enhancement features. It will have occasional micro stutter. You will also hear people complain about banding but honestly it's not much worse than my C1 was with banding.
Also, there are some concerns about hisense build quality.
That said, there is no way you will find any 75" tv that even comes close to the PQ this has for this price. You will need to double the price to get an incremental improvement. Honestly, the only TV of any size/brand I think would look better is the Samsung S95B, but then you are 65" and spending a lot more than this, and forgoing dolby vision.
"According to Hisense, though, the U8K manages to double the older U8H's local dimming zones while still managing to offer up a meaty peak brightness of up to 1500 nits. You'll also be getting an anti-glare, low-reflection screen, too, to cut down on as many ambient reflections as possible. Other goodies in the U8K include a next-gen OTA 4K tuner, as well as Wi-Fi 6e support plus IMAX Enhanced and FilmMaker modes."

The main improvement is my opinion is the dimming zones. The fact that it is less reflective is great, but it's already THE tv most reccomened for bright sunny environment because it gets bright enough to overcome them. As an example, I use my S22 Ultra outdoors all of the time, and it's the first phone that I dont struggle at all to see in the sun. It's rated at 1750 nits, and measures lower than that it most tests. If this tv really measures over 2000 nits, I really doubt reflections will be an issue.

Vizio is another perfect example
The raw spec numbers looks great...but there is more to the story day to day
This isn't true. There is the same "not quite right" with the LG/Sony/Samsung than these probably. TV"s are so complex nowdays it's insane and all have issues. ALL. One great piece of advice is dont go looking for problems with test patterns you might not be able to unsee. plus, like long covid, if you cant define it ("not quite right"??) it probably isnt real.
Been rocking a TCL 65" R615 since 2018 and happy with it. still great.
I get this is SD, but TCL and Hisense are taking over TV sales basically. It's just a thing. I myself stick with tried and true RCA not these newfangled overseas brands like "Samsung" and "Sony"!
You could probably say Sony/LG/Samsung may have a level of polish and quality control the cheaper brands dont. That makes sense. But I doubt there is anything in it TBH. If you go to resell your TV on FB Samsung will get more $ for sure. Is it better spec for $? Nope.
BTW, the 2018 TCL? I bought it on PCRichard ironically. Guess they are still a thing.
One thing I have heard recently is TCL? Hisense? All Brands? sometimes dont completely turn off "motion smoothing" AKA the soap opera effect, even if you completely turn it off in settings, on these new models. This would be annoying, but I'm assuming something they may address in FW and honestly likely still not a dealbreaker even if they dont, my main use would be as a a gaming TV and it wont affect that.

I am going to say that the major brands have better and more consistent quality control...and yes you do pay for it
To your other point on the used market the name brands are always worth more

i think that was supposedly because of teething issues with the google OS, and I'm sure it was nonsense user errors. Basically SD invaded real life...
dse is on all brands. i dont even care about it.
But now I get why BB price match is talked about. However the uH8 isnt available from BB for me. "unavailable nearby".

Best Buy is weird and national website availability seemingly can depend on your region and presumably warehouse that services your region. So it may be available for some but isn't for me.
