The real "slick deal" is to get a different bike and subscribe to the Peloton digital only subscription for $13 a month. We use our $300 Echelon Sport with the QZ app on iOS, which captures both the bike telemetry, my HR, and the Peloton class's suggested resistance and cadence. The negative to digital only is you don't appear on leaderboards and don't have multiple user profiles, but I don't care a bit about either of these issues; I never take live classes and don't care about the leaderboard.
still a great status symbol for when friends and family come over.

i just need to dust the cobwebs off ours before they arrive.
We enjoyed ours a lot, but eventually sold it due to the membership cost. 45 dollars a month is a lot for a digital subscription, but the content on it is great. I've since tried apple fitness plus, and the caliber of instructor and music just isnt there.

If you check your local FB Marketplace you may find them cheaper in used condition. I've seen them as low as $750 in my area.

I had been wondering if some sales might pop up on Peloton bikes. I believe that they produced more than they should and when...post Covid...the demand dropped, they got themselves into a financial hole.

This is the way to go. This setup also enables you to use other memberships if you would want to (zwift, etc) whereas Peloton bikes only run Peloton classes.

For what it's worth, the Peloton community is pretty intense. Wifey and I have a bike and Tread+.

I'm not too into it, but still enjoy the classes. Wifey on the other hand has drunk the Koolaid and is borderline cult status lol. She takes classes every single day, listens to podcasts, follows the instructors on social, tries to get in for live classes in-studio, etc, etc.

All that said, the price tag is worth it if you're looking for a energizing fitness community.

Oh, and that $45 price tag for the membership covers all peloton devices and digital/mobile.

Unless you have more than one peloton device in which case the membership isn't that bad.

This is a great metric for whether or not you should get a Peloton, but unfortunately you can't measure it unless you actually get the bike. For the people that use the bike a lot, they don't consider the membership that expensive. My wife and I share an iFit membership that costs about $400/yr, but compared to joining a gym we definitely like it. That's of course cheaper than Peloton but not exactly cheap. If you don't use the service a lot it will 'feel' more expensive.

I got the bowflex C7 new for under $300 and peloton subscription for $13/month. Screen is small so I don't use with tablet and computer, but it's a great bike if it drops in price again.

It's definitely expensive compared to the digital version. They charge you 3x the amount for owning their sub. I had the Peloton bike plus for a year and loved it but spending that much for just the leaderboard basically wasn't worth it.
