Good price but note that this printer does not print double sided automatically. A deal breaker for me.

I have used it for years with off brand toner without issue.

It also works with phones wirelessly but only with the Canon Business Print app.

Bought this exact model 8 years ago for $50 as a first year PhD student, still working well (with Linux). Double page printing is possible with Linux if you try hard enough 😉

I got the other model that is a slight step up. I thought, meh, I can live without AirPrint... as soon as my wife knew it was up she was asking why her phone could not print to it. Ugh. It's not worth the effort to set something up on a computer to handle airprint printing. What a disappointment.

You can setup a CUPS server on a raspberry pi… This is what I did with an old HP CP3525 color laser printer that only had basic network functions. Now we can AirPrint from any iOS/Mac device, and also wireless print from windows servers. I really want to pull the trigger on this but I can see my wife not being a fan of not having option to print color.

I know there are options to do things like that and I have the technical ability, I just need to make this as simple as possible because I'm tired of being the IT guy at home and work. I can't have my wife texting me because the raspberry pi is down and she needs to print. If I were single I would definitely do that.

This printer is my workhorse at home. Flawless prints and even takes aftermarket print cartridges without issue. Turn it on, connects to wifi very fast, print. Easy.
