FYI - These "flood" lights are horrible, no wonder they are so cheap. I bought 2 boxes (1 daylight 100W equivalents and 1 soft white 60W equivalents) and ended up returning them because they are more of spotlights than flood lights, and they aren't really that bright.
Very disappointing, but then again they are less than $4 so you get what you pay for! 😅

Just a reminder these are 2700k warm / soft white that is a white that is made with more orange, yellow, and red and is similar to light bulbs of decades past.

Last week they had a similar clearance price at Lowes for the 5000k which is still valid, but ymmv stock for people like me and other slick dealers. 20 pack 65w equivalent and 12 pack 90w equivalent.

https://slickdeals.net/f/16364917-ymmv-ge-led-flood-90-watt-eq-led-par38-daylight-flood-light-bulb-12-pack-3-17-or-65-watt-eq-3-17-or-dimmable-5-98-lowes-ymmv?src=SiteSearch

Some people prefer the 5000k especially if you have winter depression for they put more blue in the light and it is like noon outdoors on a clear sunny day (sunshine is 5000k to 6500k depending on latitude.) Other people HATE 5000k for it can make people feel anxious and your eyes notice a higher amount of detail like if you are in a bathroom you notice more dirt, grimes, and stains on the sink and bathtubs. I am sharing all this info to explain the options for while I think 5000k is better it is good to know before buying for there are times to use each.

How are these "flood" lights in a regular household fixture? does the light spread well or at all or is it pretty directional?

Site must be getting hammered. Every time I try to add to cart it says something about "error on their end, try again later." Happens at multiple locations.
That's just Lowe's being Lowe's. Happens all the time...

Great deal, but LED bulbs are a scam. The 25-year or whatever "theoretical" lifespan they always tout is a joke. They may not "burn out" like incandescents, but the wiring or something always fails and they start to flicker and die. All my LED bulbs do this after a year or two. I use them because they don't heat up the room, but if you have to dump them in a landfill every year, they are NOT more economical or better for the environment. I have some outdoor incandescents that have been going for 15+ years.
60W vs 8W, even if they burn out every year, that's a huge power savings.

I find that if you have them in an enclosed fixture, they burn out much faster. Any fixture that has the ability for air to move, the bulb lasts many, many years.

I absolutely agree. I never met an LED that achieved close to it's quoted life.
For $hits and giggles I have a failed one opened up on my workbench. The LEDs still work but the electronics are shot.
I have other electronics devices that have run continuously for years (clocks for example). Why not these?

Out of curiosity, do the LED bulb electronics include capacitors, probably surface mount?

Having been into computers and electronics since the 80's, I can state from experience that most of them I've owned that have died died due to leaking capacitors. That includes power supplies/bricks. One would've hoped capacitors would've improved over the decades, but apparently many are still cheaply made by China and are like ticking self destruct mechanisms. I don't know if they might be the cause of early LED bulb deaths. Any electronic is only as good as its weakest link which seems to be capacitors.

I don't know about clocks and other devices, but incandescents are really basic - just a simple circuit running through a filament. I assume LEDs have more complex wiring and stuff inside and have more opportunity for failure.

Not saying I love incandescents either - I don't like how are so hot. Just saying LEDs are being pitched as more economically and environmentally friendly when I don't think they are.

Ha, these prices are wild. I paid $340 for this many bulbs about 8 years ago. Ok, they're dimmable. But still, this is a 99% reduction in price!!

Anyways, no regrets. They've paid for themselves 5x over in power savings over these 8 years (estimating ~$10/year/bulb in savings) compared to the incandescent bulbs they replaced.

I know they're more complex to manufacture, so an environmental ROI study would be cool to see. I'm certain you could find many via google.

Consider they use 10% of the power, generate a fraction of the heat, and last 10-20 times as long. I bet they over come their manufacturing impact fairly fast.

Expect to save $100-200 per bulb in power costs over its 10-20 year lifespan.

Awesome deal, picked up 2 boxes, priced at $1.87 a box. There were still 16 boxes left, so check your local store if you use this type of bulb. I have these bulbs all over my house, so probably won't ever have to buy any more in my lifetime. But you are getting 20 bulbs for less than the price of 1 bulb.

Doesn't get much slicker than this!
