I know they're more complex to manufacture, so an environmental ROI study would be cool to see. I'm certain you could find many via google.

Consider they use 10% of the power, generate a fraction of the heat, and last 10-20 times as long. I bet they over come their manufacturing impact fairly fast.

Expect to save $100-200 per bulb in power costs over its 10-20 year lifespan.
I get that they consume less power and produce less heat, but the problem is they don't last 10-20 times longer. They may on paper, but in real life I've never had one last more than 2 years before failure, at which point all that wiring and metal goes in the trash, whereas a typical incandescent can easily last 5-10 years (or longer) in the same conditions. There are definitely advantages to LEDs, but I don't think environmental impact (or even cost) is one of them if they need to be replaced 5 times as often.

My Lowes also had 24x A19 60W bulbs for $3.67 so I picked up a box of those too.

How are these "flood" lights in a regular household fixture? does the light spread well or at all or is it pretty directional?
Directional

They didn't tell me, but the cashier called their manager and he told me that they will have to send all their stock back to the warehouse. Sounded fishy, but they didn't budge and couldn't sell the bulbs to me Frown

This [lowes.com] dimmable version (750 lumens) shows up for me at a cheaper price $3.07, for pick up only.
I get this message:

Guess this has harmful material for California but not the rest of the world! As always... We are dying of Good Health at a price tag!

Every time I refresh and check my cart, it's a few dollars more without any item added!
Then some are still store pick up. The total of Ship to home is enough to qualify for free home shipping as seen on the initial cart page but once going to the final page, there is an additional &5.99 for shipping!!!
Talk of Lowe's surprise.
SORRY LOWES BUT I PASS AND BUY AT ACE or local store.

That sounds like an issue with your bulbs or your electrical system (wiring, fixtures, switches). I've had cheap no-name Chinese LED bulbs off Amazon die on me after a year or two, but all the name brand LED bulbs I've bought - GE, Philips, Halo - are still going strong after 8-9 years.

LED bulbs can be more sensitive to electrical issues, and do require LED-compatible dimmer switches if you're looking to dim them. I had to return a few LED bulbs for buzzing when dimming, but that issue showed up immediately after installation and they've been going strong since.
