Direct Tools Outlet has the 14" Ryobi 40v Brushless Chainsaw (tool only) for $95 with free store pickup or a flat $15 for shipping. Battery is not included. Looking around, doesn't seem like anything comes close in price. About 6 months ago, there was a similarly priced sale. I've been happy with my 40v lineup and I've got a handful of stumps that need tending to. Model number is RY405010BTL

Firefighter here. I've seen enough fires that originated from power tool batteries that were operated under normal use/charge that I'm highly wary of those adapters.

It's definitely tempting to save some money and use batteries that you already have, but it's still unclear how mixing battery systems and voltages affect battery health.

Great deal. If I didn't already own several alternatives, I would be tempted.

I picked this up with the battery and charger for $140 (+shipping) during their black Friday sale. It's awesome. Never had a hint of kick back and I've been cutting up downed trees for my firepit every week without isue.

Sometimes you can find them on FB market for reasonable prices. Otherwise picking up a combo pack such as weed eater and blower is usually best deal for growing a collection.

I use a Makita one from ebay, cost $12, works great. Oops, wasn't paying attention, mine is 18v. Don't think I've ever seen a 40v adapter.

Wish they had a deal with battery. Not currently in the 40v ecosystem but definitely would like to start and specifically with a chainsaw.

I can't remember pricing but with the various DTO sales they have had the kits on sale with battery.

I'm in the same boat, there are some 3d printed adapters floating out there, I'm in as soon as someone makes a real one. Would be nice if Ryobi made one.

Please don't buy from tool thieves, it just makes prices higher for us all. I'm sure there is one person out there selling a brand new 40v battery because they couldn't return it to HD for what they paid for it, but the large majority are tool thieves.
