That's when YETI sued them. Forced RTIC to dump their entire inventory for dirt cheap to pay off the legal bills owed. RTIC was forced to redesign everything.
SOURCE: just trust me
I also hate the way this pours as well. The aperture is too small so it just goes gulp gulp gulp and splashes everywhere.
Wish it came with a built-in straw. Tilting a 1 gallon jug over your head just to drink from it looks dumb af and can get tiring.
I have them both. I use the Ozark Trail version only now. Ozark Trails has replaced bottles for me free of charge before. Its more substantial. Heavier. Handle is more stout.
I have the ozark Trail half gallon and I have the RTIC gallon and half gallon jugs. My ozark is definitely rugged but leaks unless you screw the lid down very hard. The RTIC are nicer in my opinion I haven't had any leaking at all and they just feel nice. I can't really compare the two as far as keeping it cold because I drink a ton of water and it never stays in there longer than a day. Around a day they both do a good job of keeping water the same temp as when I fill them.
Also, I have had terrible luck with ozark Trail warranty. They have never come through with anything helpful to me. I have a few tumblers that leak and they won't do anything to help me other than tell me to buy new lids even though they are lifetime warranty
