once you go vitamix you don't go back to a pedestrian blender
we'll see...
bought my wife an A3300 (because program buttons aren't worth the cost of A3500) for Christmas, she absolutely rips through Ninja's. so far so good, she instantly said it blends her protein shakes far better/smoother... there's no chug when it hits a frozen strawberry or piece of ice like the Ninja's all had.
the only misstep she's pointed out so far is the personal cups not having measurement marks on the side... seems pretty odd for the price honestly, where people are going to be making a shake to go in the AM, throw some marks on the side of the thing. Ninja removed them one generation and got tonsssss of backlash, they were right back on next gen

interesting.
I just have the lower-end 5300 old Costco version since like 2014... still goes like an old battle ax tank.
Yeah I don't need any of the fancy features either, I think you made a good choice not going all the way to the top.
I don't have any of the personal cups but your criticism seems fair enough... one small area they could improve.
when you do see negative reviews of Vitamix usually it seems like it's people aren't using them the way the instruction videos and manuals tell you to... primarily to run them at full speed as soon as possible, so they have full torque (protects the motor). most people think they are taking it easy on the blender by not running it at that full speed, but that's actually harder on the motor, unless you're just mixing essentially liquids or something.
if I have ingredients that will cause a big splash up and like flaxseed spitting up and sticking to the lid and or similar situations, I usually will start out maybe 1/3 to halfway up and then quickly ramp up to full speed and stay there for the rest of the blend. you definitely want to be at full speed if you are using the tamper to push food down towards the blade.
I've never made peanut butter from peanuts with it but with the things like that also of course (full speed). and almonds unless they're soaked overnight or something, I probably would avoid making almond butter, as those buggers are hard and likely to cause extreme stress on the motor. but almond milk and things like that are just fine.
anyway the key is to run it at full tilt as soon and as much as possible when using it. and also making sure you can hear the motor (No noise canceling headphones listening to music or something) during the critical parts of the blend, so that you can make sure you hear if the motor jams... obviously if that happens turn it off right away and fix the problem... otherwise of course that's a sure way to burn the motor out after a few times like that.
they have a great warranty but I don't want to use it, it's still a hassle and no sense in wasting what would have otherwise been a perfectly good motor if used right.

thanks for the info, appreciate it.
yeah, she figured out quick that full power was better than ramping it up like you were taking it easy... you can hear the motor, it just sounds happier.
we're vegan, so we make cashew based cheese sauces a lot... granted they're much softer than almonds (she uses an Almond Cow for milk, that thing just makes it simple as can be), but Ninja's always required soaking otherwise you'd end up with a gritty cheese sauce, the Vitamix could care less it just shreds them into a nice smooth sauce
we haven't had it long, so haven't run all our favorite recipes through it yet... but so far, it's a nice machine.

shoot I just wrote a long reply, and touched something wrong on my display and it went away, and unlike with other apps when I go back into comment it doesn't remember anything.
but you're welcome, thank you also for your information and reply. we are vegan also and having a good blender and good food processor is almost essential for vegans. The good thing about your VM blender model is you can get the food processor attachment, although any decent food processor should also be fine other than taking up a little extra counter space.
and yeah for medium to softer nuts the vitamix does not care at all, does them beautifully and for harder nuts like almonds, for nut butters, with a little bit of intelligent accommodation and planning it's fine with those as well.
anyway, I'm sure you guys will continue to love the Vitamix and get many many years of happy use out of it. and with the model you got it even comes with a 10-year warranty, and even the medium level models come with 7-year warranties, and the lowest end I think comes with like three to five. All pretty incredible for the price.
anyway, I can even hear the shill now, lol, but I can assure everyone I'm not. I just love the product and the customer service has been amazing.

My household has been vegan for 7 years with 6yo and 3yo thriving kiddos, so just came here to say it's exciting to see yall on this thread 😂 We've had a Vitamix the entire time, never miss the morning smoothie 🤙
