Not a very good deal. The 65" should be under $300. Best Buy even had the better 55" 5 Series for $200 just a few weeks ago.

My 75 year old parents bought the 65" version of this TV recently and have been really happy with it. It might be bottom of the barrel but it is way better than the old tv they upgraded from. They paid slightly over this price and bought it in store at Wal-Mart near the small town they live in. They wanted to see the picture before they bought it. I convinced them to add on a cheap soundbar with a wireless subwoofer and now their setup is pretty great for only spending about $500.

Nice deal if you're happy with bottom barrel on a 65". It's a better deal that similar bottom tier samsung's of course.

Personally, unless you're a college student, I'd try to get something with local dimming that you're gonna use everyday, since edge lit in 2023 isn't that fun.

Hisense u6hf on Amazon has hit $350 a couple times lately at 58", I bought that recently and think it's a much better deal -7". To each their own of course.

Rings for the TCL vs hisense. https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...eshold=0.2

For perspective, as I remember Target sold the Android-tv version of the TCL 65 inch 4 series for $229 a little over two years ago, or about $218 after RedCard discount. I got used to electronics continuously offering more bang for the buck each year, but that seems to have slowed or stopped.
There's always a lower limit on prices that the higher-end TVs approach, as the costs are limited by labor and shipping, instead of materials. And that lower limit usually rises. It's why you can't really get 42" TVs cheaper than 65" TVs. But it does mean 77"-100" TVs are eventually going to approach the lower shipping/labor limit price.

I bought this TV in Target before the new year, after 4 days a pink stripe appeared on it, I'm going to hand it over in the near future, but have not yet found what to take as replacement. Also, this TV is very bad in a bright room and fails all tests for smoothness.

I bought that tv. It was a Black Friday deal so the pricing was limited to that event, not an everyday price. That said, it's been a good performer and well worth the investment for us.

That was a BF door buster essentially. The 5 Series is usually $400.

I got this ( or a very similar model) for $400 a couple of years ago on a black Friday deal from Walmart. Not the greatest TV ever, but I haven't seen any deals on TVs bigger than 65 inch that compel me to upgrade yet. I use it with my PC as a glorified monitor and rarely use any onboard apps on the TV. Not a bad TV for this price IMO.

I would not say TCL is bottom barrel. It I certainly budget, but it's a decent value. Something like ONN or Westinghouse is bottom barrel.

I don't disagree that the Hisense is better, but from what I've heard their quality assurance is not great. You are much more likely to get a bad panel or a panel that will fail than you are with most other name brands.

I'm not talking brands, I'm talking about the specific TV. If it was a tcl series 6 or something I wouldn't have the same comment.

The problem with edge lit + low brightness is the TV does not have a contrast range. You can't overcome high lighting, and you can't distinguish similar shades...

The hisense has straight up better technology, quantum dots, local dimming, high brightness, high contrast.

And anyone who's buying this tcl TV should not act like they are too concerned about panel lottery..

Bought this tv on Black Friday. It's dark crap that you can't see in a room that has any light. Also blacks and greys are the same.
This is so inaccurate. The TV perform just fine in a lit room with sunlight. I have one and I also reduced the brightness to around 80% or so. It won't win any awards compared to a TV 5 to 10 times its price but it'll do just fine.

Use tvs like this in guest bedrooms or for young kids. They dont make good personal or livingroom tvs they are simply not bright enough and black levels are horrible.

Walmart had it for $229 before Thanksgiving 2022.
Got that deal, been happy with it. The Roku interface is my preference, and the picture quality is better than our 2017 4-series. Blacks are washed out in a bright room and there's some blacklight bleed near the sides, but really only noticed that when being critical in the first few days. I'd still be content if we'd paid the price of this deal.

Still hoping a 55 QLED suitable for gaming reaches these prices in the next week or two, need to replace a decade old plasma that just broke.
