Not a very good deal. The 65" should be under $300. Best Buy even had the better 55" 5 Series for $200 just a few weeks ago.
My 75 year old parents bought the 65" version of this TV recently and have been really happy with it. It might be bottom of the barrel but it is way better than the old tv they upgraded from. They paid slightly over this price and bought it in store at Wal-Mart near the small town they live in. They wanted to see the picture before they bought it. I convinced them to add on a cheap soundbar with a wireless subwoofer and now their setup is pretty great for only spending about $500.
Nice deal if you're happy with bottom barrel on a 65". It's a better deal that similar bottom tier samsung's of course.

Personally, unless you're a college student, I'd try to get something with local dimming that you're gonna use everyday, since edge lit in 2023 isn't that fun.

Hisense u6hf on Amazon has hit $350 a couple times lately at 58", I bought that recently and think it's a much better deal -7". To each their own of course.

Rings for the TCL vs hisense. https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...eshold=0.2

The price is ok but it doesn't have either hdr10+ of Dolby vision. No game mode....

Yea hard pass.
This Tv doesnt really have the contrast or the brightness capability to even take advantage of those formats

You are going to have to pay significantly more or lower your expectations

The few things I expect from a new budget TV are that it will be better than my last budget TV, come with more features and be cheaper. I've yet to be disappointed.

That was a BF door buster essentially. The 5 Series is usually $400.
It was available for several days. It wasn't like the Amazon Omni deal was available for mere seconds.

Need a replacement tv for my kids playroom. Toddlers that just watch youtube and disney.
Will this Tv suffice or should I spend a little more for the series 5. I dont want the 4 series to crap out after 2 years.

This is so inaccurate. The TV perform just fine in a lit room with sunlight. I have one and I also reduced the brightness to around 80% or so. It won't win any awards compared to a TV 5 to 10 times its price but it'll do just fine.
Then there's a quality problem because I put it on max brightness and it was still dark and cloudy.

While I agree the prices are pedestrian, using a loss leader (or doorbuster, if you prefer) such as the $200 55S546 deal as any kind of a benchmark is unrealistic. I'm not sure what you mean by "should" in reference to the 65" 4-Series, but that would definitely be a blowaway deal at $300, despite the fact that it too was a loss leader for $228 at Wallyworld during BF.

5 Series is actually more fragile than the 4 because its heavier. If you wall mount it, that should mitigate the issue. If we're talking about normal toddlers, I think reliability is significantly less important than fragility.

I have the old 6 series and running on low power more lately for general streaming. I'll crank it up for sports on a sunny day. Now primary TV is SONY OLED, not as bright but beautiful picture.

Normally, I would say don't hold your breath, but I've really been getting into these different shades of blue lately.

You could drive to every Walmart in the continental US until you find the one store with a 75" Philips 75PFL5604/F7 for $278. You would be permitted to breathe normally while waiting the half hour at each store while the associate pretends to check stock for you.
