I've used credit karma tax (now cash app tax) for past 4 years with no issues. Married, homeowner, 1099, investments, dependents, rental income, handles it all. Free.

Worked for me. I got the deluxe fed + state. I got the code about 2 minutes after I bought it.

I was going to get the Costco deal, which comes with a $10 credit, but I think that the credit would be useless to me, since I don't think my state allows for any state E-file fees, so this Newegg deal is $5 cheaper than the Costco deal, for me at least.

I've filed online every year..and every year they make it more and more difficult to find a free-file place without income restrictions...and the TurboTax, H&R Block and others don't tell you that Federal is FREE....but you HAVE to also file State through them, and they charge for that. I can file State & Local for free thru their respective websites....ugh...

im hesitating between this and hr block. hr block is cheaper, but not sure how good it is.

You don't have to file state through them to have fed filed. I've efiled my FILs fed and then printed and mailed state return every year for the last 4 years

I used to always pick whichever was cheapest between TaxAct, Turbo and H and R. If you don't have any major complications, I think all are ok with some minor differences. I had one wrinkle with an income stream (CREP tree planting grant from the government) and was using h and r. For some reason, they didn't have the form, so I had to print all the stuff out and mail it- turbo tax did have it, so for me, it's worth the premium.

Again - if you're pretty plain vanilla, don't think it matters much
