youll have to click on them and look, but they are either remote controlled, app controlled, both remote and app controlled, music sync controlled. one has black background tape and usually cost a couple dollars more, but most have white background tape. one has a clear coat protection and can be used inside or outside (note just the gel covered tape light part is water protected, not the controller or power adapter). one of the 32' is actually two 16' strips connected in the middle by a "Y" power splitter and is remote, app, music mode, and timer controlled.

note that the led lights are spaced apart more then a while back previously, but they are bright lights.

What sucks is none of the models on sale are the WiFi models and all are the Bluetooth models for app control.

Because people think that they are important enough for the Chinese to spy on them. As a Cybersecurity professional of 15 years, I have run my Govee products through Wireshark and other network packet sniffers and have not seen any malicious use. You can always block the outgoing IP if you really want to.

I think this is the right approach. I have mine connected, but have blocked outbound communication external to our LAN.

Well.. for my own peace of mind. I also own the immersion light bars with a camera.

The camera is always on looking at my computer screen emulating the colors on screen and projecting the colors to the light bars.

When u set it up you can totally see whats on your screen with the camera.So Its kinda like sharing your screen online.. i dont want people seeing when im searching the naughty stuff 😈…. Lol
I got no shame sharing my search history but having a camera online for people to see and im not even getting paid..

With a esp board or just a simple raspberry pi $10 for a controller and some soldering. You'll be able to really program them, though you can still download presets. It's a super good project for getting into making/programming.

You can also cut them a various sections as the led's are in groups connected to one chip. You can then add extension wires and hook them up to the other side you cut off (for under kitchen cabinets and such).

I did one strip for my sons bed and needed to shorten it, I cut it where I thought was the right spot but lost about an extra foot of light. The rest still worked fine no problem, but Its not like I'm taking the cut part and reusing it elsewhere.

It can, but the programming is set to it's full length so some animation may not look right if you shorten or lengthen it. But apparently there's a way to update length in the app.

I highly recommend looking at the M1 version of the Govee lights. They have the highest number of LEDs per foot so they get super bright and have an excellent effect.
